Romelu Lukaku has not returned to Carrington for first team training amid speculation surrounding the Belgian star’s future.
The Manchester United forward trained with Anderlecht on Monday after being given permission by United to visit his former club.
However the Mail reports that Lukaku has stayed with the Belgian side to train for a second day despite it being less than a week away from United’s Premier League season opener against Chelsea .
The news plunges Lukaku’s future at Old Trafford further into doubt as he looks to force through a move to Inter Milan.
Lukaku has failed to play a single minute of United’s pre-season campaign due to an ankle injury but was given a day off on Monday to train with Anderlecht’s under-18’s team at his request.
And Lukaku is said to have played a pivotal role in their session, coaching and encouraging the academy players involved.
He also took one of the strikers to one side to go through a finishing exercise on a one-to-one basis.
His failure to return for Tuesday’s session though raises suggestions his United career could be over, as the rest of the squad prepare for Sunday’s crunch clash with Chelsea.
However United are holding out for closer to £80 million, and Lukaku’s actions could be seen as a defiant stand off with his current employers.
Inter boss Antonio Conte said on his clubs transfer situation previously: “We continue to work on it in the best possible way.
“I understand there are some gaps that need to be filled but at the moment I am very hopeful that this will happen.”
The Italian transfer window does not close until September 1, giving Inter more time to complete a switch for the 26-year-old.
