Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman says playing for the senior national team was the turning point in his football career.
Despite his appearances in the aged-grade teams for England, he made his Super Eagles debut against the Black Stars of Ghana in a 2022 World Cup qualifying playoff.
Since then, the Atalanta winger has made 28 appearances and scored eight goals for Nigeria.

Speaking with Sporty TV in an interview, Lookman stated that his football career has been fruitful even since he played for the Super Eagles.
“It was massive for me because that was really a big turning point in my career. Ever since I’ve put on the Super Eagles jersey, it has been fruitful,” he told Sporty TV.
“We have been able to achieve together as a team and we are still growing as a team. The togetherness of the team is something that is very special within the squad.
“We showed that in the last AFCON, we got to the final but unfortunately we came up a bit short.”

Few weeks ago, I stated here that playing for the national team helped Lokman up his game, but some people hurled insults at me and for reasons Uknown to me were very aggressive in disagreeing LOL. I HOPE THAT SPECIFIC BLOCK HEAD CAN READ THIS AND HEAR FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH.
Yes I remembered you were attacked fiercely as if you meant bad. Now the dude himself has acknowledged what you said . Hope Tosin would have a change of mind and others like him would immediately realize playing for a country like Nigeria brings good luck to you. Tosin is now a perpetual bench warmer while Dele a guy who once played in Turkey attracted a very good club in Italy just three months after appearing in the colors of Nigeria. Playing for Nigeria makes it easy for scouts to find players .
Tosi has played with us for way too long…I think we should just ignore him till he is ready no more begging lol. He hasn’t been considered for the 3 lions once and we keep begging.
Yes you both are very right.
Very humble soul! Chai I so much love this guy.. gratitude! That’s the spirit..He sees it as a privilege to wear the green white jersey representing millions of Nigerians.. I mean from this humble comment it’s clear that we did him a favour by choosing him out of millions of talents out there to represent us….
But some arrogant dude want to kill us with Ogun…
Ranting all over the place that it doesn’t bother him if tomorrow he gets invited or not…
@Monkey…Ogun no go kill you on this Victor Osimhen matter…. We have all moved on but you still dey dwell on the matter wey don die since. The jealousy in you no let you rest. Jealousy kills faster than Ogun. If you don’t back off, na jealousy go kill you. Why are you so jealous of Osimhen’s fame and career? …why?
I heard a rumour that caf re planning to give achraf hakimi the African footballer of the year.
You’re too sensitive. Nobody hurled insults at you, not me. Im literally looking at the post previous post. Its HONRABLE for ademola to say playing for the super eagles has been a turning point in his career, he has a right to feel that way. Especially when a lot of nigerians saying he is the african player of the year and I agree. He is playing this to a certain gallery or audience, which is nigerians. I totally understand that. He is showing appreciation.
But I cant fathom how playing less than 6 games a year for the national team can be a turning point in ones football career. It was his switch to seria a, on a team where he can play regular. He is now consistent and continued off from last season. He was mostly coming off the bench on leicester and played in a terrible system under scott parker. Him playing regularly is what made him ready for the national team. How can playing for nigeria 6-8 times a year make him better at his club? You giving the national team too much credit. The team need consistent players. How many times recetnly people been complaining her that players who are not playing regularly are getting called up?
He wanted to play, so he left the english league
Ademola has surpassed Osimhen in terms of star status for Nigeria currently. He keeps his mouth shut and play
I will wait for atalanta vs real madrid
Shuma e b like CS latest update don put virus for your brain. Read what you wrote again if you’re making any sense.
Lmaoooo
God look afar the pride , but honour humble, because Lookman is an humble dude he is hourned.
Lookman would be the popular Nigerian choice for the award.
However, I also feel it’s quite possible that Hakimi gets the award. It’s being held in Morocco, and Morocan officials would love a Moroccan player to win the award they’re hosting. Besides, Hakimi did have a fantastic year. Arguably not as good as Lookman’s, but we know this North Africans will do anything to get their way.
I hope this SE squad wins a major trophy. We almost did it in the 2023 AFCON. With better tactics, we should have that trophy in our kitty. It would be a shame if this bunch of players finish their careers trophyless.
