Ademola Lookman returned to Atalanta starting line-up as they secured a 2-0 win at Venezia in Serie A on Sunday to maintain their winning run.
The reigning UEFA Europa League champions have now won their last three games.
Lookman had an international break to forget after he and his Super Eagles teammates were held hostage for over 10 hours at a remote airport by Libyan authorities, ahead of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers with the Mediterranean Knights.
Despite the ordeal, Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini named Lookman in his first 11 better withdrawing him before the start of the second half.
Against Venezia, goals in each half by Mario Pasalic and Mateo Retegui sealed the win for Atalanta.
Pasalic opened the scoring in the 7th minute before Retegui doubled the lead three minutes into thr second half.
Atalanta now move up to sixth on 13 points, six points behind leaders Napoli in the league table.
This season Lookman has scored two goals, provided two assists in five league games.
