England youth international Ademola Lookman has applied to compete for Nigeria at senior level.
The 22-year-old, who won the U20 World Cup in 2017, holds a UK passport and wants to switch nationalities to represent the country of his parents.
A top official of the Super Eagles has welcomed his decision and he is now awaiting approval from world governing body the FIFA.

“Lookman has applied for the switch and all the documents are in order,” Nigeria’s technical assistant Tunde Adelakun told Opera News.
“It’s a positive step forward when made his commitment to Nigeria and we are just waiting for a Fifa clearance.
“Once the go-ahead is sorted, it will be up to coach Gernot Rohr to decide if his club performance would earn him a call up.”
Lookman scored 12 goals in 49 games for Charlton before joining Everton in January 2017.

Woow!!! Where did that come from? Very unexpected move. It’s a welcome development. Hope his club career takes a better turn. Eagles make up is getting scarier by the day.
Up S.E
This is da booommmmmb sqqquaaaad. Welcome home Lukeman. Now your stupendous talent takes a flight like never before.
Thank God you made that decision Lukman but you have to wait on the queue for your turn to be called up. I am not excited I just feel normal about it.
Glory, the guy is good, no doubt. But everybody knows we were his second choice. He’s been waiting for England all this while. Anyhow, if he now wants to join us, that’s cool. Our already deadly attack just got even more monstrous!
@ Pompei, Ademola right from his Charton days , has always wanted to play for Nigeria. Somehow pressure from mates and English FA got him to play for England Under 20. I won’t be surprised one reason he left English premiership to Germany, is to remove himself from that pressure, so he can freely commit to Nigeria. This boy is a baller, his struggles at the German club is language and the manager already having a winning team before he came. He is highly regarded by the England FA. He is a winner and deserves to come put up a fight for a shirt. I hate comparing players except for attitude problems.
Glory, some articles I read in the past concur with you that he always wanted to play for us. Other articles say otherwise. See this one for example.

Like Moses before him, Lookman is good enough to make England regret snubbing him. If Lookman clicks for Nigeria, England’s loss will be our gain! However, Lookman will find that a starting jersey with Nigeria will not come easy. And that competition for jerseys will hopefully bring out the best in all the players.
In addition to his quality as a player, one critical thing he will bring to the SE is his ability with freekicks. Currently, the only other freekick specialist we have is Iheanacho. The team is definitely better off with Looman’s addition.
Who will you remove for him?
@ Pompeii. I was actually referring to that period before he got called up to England u-20, while he was still at Charlton. We didn’t push for him then. Again Ademola never used Nigeria to bargain for England call up. That bargaining game is just what makes Tomori n Tammys case very unforgivable. Truth is,most Nigerian born players here even down to under-7, are always talking of playing for Nigeria. But as soon as they start catching the eye, pressure/ coded threat from d English FA, pressure from mates, and saddly/ shamefully these players relatives/ parents who in their head are now “more British than the English” bully these kids into playing for England, all because of the financial gain that they looking up to get. I happen to meet a Nigerian relative to Eze, who was almost at daggers drawn with me for asking why Eze would turn down Nigeria. He said Eze is Biafra n they won’t allow Eze play for jungle country like nigeria. I looked at this person and only shook my head in disgust. These are some of the people that come on this forum to run down our players, coaches, every sensible talk about making SE better.
This is wonderful.I cant wait to see this guy playing for Nigeria.Imagine our SE squard with Victor Osimhen, samuel kalu,Aribo,Chukwueze,Dessers, maja,Ademola lookman,Alex iwobi, nwakali etc. Please i pray victor moses comes back
We don’t need victor.
agreed, Victor Moses is too old. We don’t need him at all.
To be part of the team now you have to do more than what we currently have, you have to play for big clubs, show more commitment to the team.
To me I rate ejuke higher than you.
I will only blame our NFF over there negligence to waste our olympic football ticket by giving the job to amakpabo or something like that to coach our U23 squard. These boys would have beaten any team in olympic football tournament
This one you just talk now, I agree but please which is praying for Moses to come back when you have chuzzy, kalu, Simon. M, Maja, Bazee, Ejuke, Dennis, osayi samuel etc

#Super Eagles is the Future
Good one. We have talents and if we failed to have a solid team from now on, NFF and coach Rohr must be questioned. As it is now, we don’t have left fullback while we have players everywhere. Hmm… interesting.Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Maybe you can play left full back for us…
omon9ja should play the right full back for Nigeria. We are short of good players in this position at the moment. Coach Rohr, up to you sir.
Why are u people always waiting to pounce on all of Omo9jas comments?
Continue, he is making sense while you guys are fooling yourselves
They will learn as time goes on though lolz. God bless Nigeria!!!
Hehehehe…always looking for faults under the guise of being patriotic. Lolz.
Jamilu Collins who plays in the bundesliga is a defensive striker abi…? Or Ola Aina who plays in the Seria A is an attacking goalkeeper…?
Just go ahead and drop another sub-par name as you always do and stop beating about the bush. Lolz
Which one is attacking goalkeeper again o, those one that go and score corner kicks at 93rd minutes? hahahaha
Mr Rohr @Omo9ja I salute you. Why can’t you speak on the issues at hand and leave Rohr for once
@Agbons, God bless you bro. You nailed it węlla lol. I don’t need to talk anymore. God bless Nigeria!!!
Pls don’t for the rest or ur life bcos all that come out of your mouth is garbage….
POC @ CSN. Tunde Adelakun is not Nigeria’s technical assistant. He is Rohr’s technical assistant, he is one of the personal staff (including opposition & player scouts) engaged and paid by Rohr….not by the NFF.
Tunde has been the one mandated by the coach to manage the pursuit of our foreign borns and I can tell you for free that apart from Ojo, Akpom and Lookman who have made theirs public now, 2 more former England youth internationals are in the pipeline. It’s still being kept secret now bcos the process is not yet at an advanced stage. Talk about effectiveness.
Unlike Pinnick who will leave his office in Nigeria and go about taking selfies with spoilt brats but with zero results.
Even Chima Okoroji a left back from Germany has accepted and has been speaking to Rohr.
What about fatai alashe and Matthew Solomon or Willy igbekeme? Players with difficult spelling plays better.
Hahaha this one self don high o. Ekene where have you been?
@ Chima Senior I gentle o. I dey feel you…. Enemies wey wan dey colonize us will perish this year.
@Sean the two players you just mentioned will pose a better treat than Onuachi but our hot and cold coach no wan listen!
@Ekene, u no like Jordon Ibe and Stephano Okaka too?
This our country called Nigeria and it’s press are good at deceiving themselves no wonder people like Drey and Oakfield are ranting all over the place with this same deception. How can a player who rejected us before when he was flying high and now that his form has dropped he now realizes he can play for us.
Common we need to be wise coz this headline is a fat self deception. Chuba Akpom and Sammy Ameobi did the same and recently Solanke, Saka and Ebere are also towing this same line. We need to weed this sort of players else the Super Eagles will become a dumping refuse of passionless players!
How do you feel now that you have just said this rubbish…? LMAO.
Nigerian press is deceptive yet you have made yourself a tenant on CSN forum, throwing falsities all over the place.
You that is not deceptive what news do you have to offer to us other than telling us every other striker is FAR BETTER than Ighalo when all stats from all over the world says otherwise. Lolz
Nwanne why you no wan stop dey brainwash people here I don come again today after 2 months but you never still change your mumu reach season 2020 o. Chai you can do better nwanne Dr Drey alias Measle Rat.
Look at this born by mistake! Where did you steal money to buy data…LMAO
So after 2 months for rehab your case don worsen from imbecility to outright madness…??
E o…! Na like this you go dey dey…?
Who ya papa offend…?
Wow am glad to hear this piece of news. A welcome development, we are gradually gathering team that will dominate Africa for a long time and make strong impact in the world. The goodnews is that majority of this guys are really young not old men claiming under21 or 23 only to play one tournament and retire. That guy is good any day any time whether we are his second choice, third or last choice he has decided to represent us. He is far better than those pretenders that will use us to get England attention. Nobody saw it coming. Hope FIFA clears him as soon as possible. Check out this front 3. Osihmen, Chukwueze and lookman. Can’t wait to see it happen.
