Bayer Leverkusen managing director Simon Rofles is upbeat Victor Boniface will hit top form again at the club.
Boniface make an instant impact at the Bundesliga champions at the start of last season following his arrival from Belgian Pro League outfit Union St Gilloise.
The powerful forward scored 16 goals and registered nine assists during the first half of the season.
The 23-year-old however sustained an injury during Nigeria’s preparation for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and was sidelined for around four months.

The former Bodo & Glint star struggled to hit top gear after returning to action towards the end of the campaign.
Rofles is optimistic the player will be back to his best again.
“After such an injury, it is not so easy (for Boniface) to regain that explosiveness in order to be able to fully enter into duels – physically, but also mentally,” Rolfes told Kicker.
“It always takes a little time, also to regain confidence in yourself and your body. He’ll be in a completely different state at the start of the season.”
