Championship club Leicester City have praised Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho’s display for the Super Eagles against Saudi Arabia on Friday, October 13.
Salman Al-FAaraj scored first for Saudi Arabia in the 60th minute however Abdulelah Al-Amri’s own goal pulled the Nigerian team level in the 73rd minute.
Iheanacho scored to give the Super Eagles the lead in the 81st minute after coming off the bench but Mohammed Kanno scored a late, late goal for the Saudi Arabians in the 100th minute to end the game in a stalemate.
Following the conclusion of the game the Leicester City website described Iheanacho’s performance in the match as “a brilliant cameo, scoring what looked to be a late winner.”

Iheanacho has scored 13 goals in 47 games for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
He has scored four goals and provided one assist in 11 Championship matches for Leicester City this season.
The Super Eagles will play Mozambique on Monday, October 16 at Estadio Muncipal de Albufeira in another friendly match.
They have been placed in Group A of the 2023 Afcon with hosts Ivory Coast, Equitorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
The 2023 Afcon will be held from January 13 to February 11 2024.
