Vincent Kompany has been shockingly linked with Bayern Munich after Burnley’s relegation to the Championship.
Kompany, 38, led the Clarets to the Championship title on his first year with the club last season but couldn’t save them from the drop on his return to the Premier League.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, via the Sun, though, that hasn’t stopped several clubs from considering the Manchester City legend as a candidate to take over as manager.
And that includes Bayern, who have “discussed Kompany internally” among other possible successors for the departing Thomas Tuchel.
That means the Belgian tactician could go from Championship football straight into the Champions League this coming season.
Romano also suggested that Brighton are interested as well as they look for Roberto De Zerbi’s replacement.
Bayern have been struggling to find a new manager after failing to convince a raft of top targets.
Xabi Alonso posed as the Bavarians’ favourite to take over at the dugout but their former player decided to stay at Bayern Leverkusen.
Alonso also turned down the opportunity to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery rejected the Bundesliga giants’ advances as well and instead put pen to paper on fresh terms at Villa Park.

Vincent Kompany linked with Bayern Munich? Erekere.
From relegation with Burnley to Bayern Munich loun loun?
The Bayern Munich board, are they on COLOS? Whatever dey are puffing over there must be very strong indeed.
Or is this a masterstroke of genius? Are the Bayern Munich board seeing something the rest of us can’t see, even with a NASA telescope?
There may be a method to this madness.
After all, English ex international Northgate is taking the 3 Lions to new heights.
The ex player rookie coach Xabi Alonso just led Leverkusen to the Meisterschale, with an unbeaten record to boot.
So why should Bayern not roll the dice with Kompany?
Time will tell!
