South Korea’s Si Woo Kim has opened up a four-shot halfway lead at the Valero Texas Open thanks to a hole-in-one. The 23-year-old aced the par-three 16th en route to a second consecutive round of 66 and sits on 12-under par with 36 holes to play.
The two-time PGA Tour winner also recorded four birdies in an error-free round and has put daylight between himself and the chasing pack. Six players reached -8 after the second round, with three-time major winner Jordan Spieth carding a pair of 68s to sit on that mark, while Ryder Cup team-mate Rickie Fowler is also four strokes adrift.
US duo Brian Stuard and Scott Stallings are among a group of seven players on -7, while Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell continued his resurgence to join the likes of Jimmy Walker and Abraham Ancer on six-under. Kim is the man they will all be trying to catch at the weekend and the Asian star admitted he just wants more of the same over the next 48 hours. “The first days here I’ve been feeling good,” he said. “I don’t want to change anything.”
