Angelique Kerber says she is ready to embrace the challenge of taking on Bianca Andreescu in Sunday’s Indian Wells final.
The German booked her place in the showpiece with a convincing 6-4 6-2 triumph over Belinda Bencic and will now take on the Canadian wildcard who has taken the tournament by storm.
Andreescu is the huge underdog but her run to the final has seen her dismiss both Garbine Muguruza and Elina Svitolina.
However, Sunday will be something new for the Wimbledon champion, as despite being her 29th WTA final, it is her maiden Premier Mandatory final.

Despite there being 52 spots between the pair in the rankings, Kerber knows nothing but her best will do in the Californian desert. “I’m really looking forward to a really tough battle. She’s here as a wildcard, and she beat a lot of good players. She has nothing to lose, she enjoys her tennis and she’s a great player,” Kerber said of the teenager. “I know that I have to play my best tennis in the final again, and I will try to enjoy it as well.”
