Watford defender Christian Kabasele says he is happy to bide his time as he bids to secure a regular place back in Javi Gracia’s team. The Belgium international was a regular feature for the Hornets during the first half of the season, although he has found himself in and out the team since recovering from an injury picked up against Chelsea on Boxing Day.

The 28-year-old did feature in last month’s Premier League matches against Manchester City and Manchester United, although he was left on the bench for their most recent top-flight fixture with Fulham, as well as their FA Cup semi-final success over Wolves last time out.
Kabasele admits he is unsure why he has had to make do with a supporting role of late, particularly as he has played well when called upon. When asked why he wasn’t playing regularly, Kabasele told Le Grand Debrief for DH: “I’m not sure. They are the manager’s choices. For me, every time he’s asked me, I’ve performed, especially in those games against City and United.”
Despite his desire to play more regularly, Kabasele remains happy at Watford and is willing to stay patient for more opportunities. “I was a bit unfortunate to pick up an injury on Boxing Day and then the manager decided to stick with the same players,” he added. “Now it’s up to me to be patient, and to show him when I’m on the pitch that he can count on me.”
