Out of favour Crystal Palace forward Alexander Sorloth has reportedly suffered ankle ligament damage. The Norway international is currently on loan at Belgian club Gent after struggling to make an impact during the first half of the season with Palace – the club he joined for a reported £9million from Midtjylland in January 2018.

Things have been going reasonably well for Sorloth in Belgium, as he has scored four goals in 19 league appearances for Gent, but he picked up an injury during Sunday’s clash with Anderlecht and now faces a spell on the sidelines. It had been initially feared that Sorloth had broken his ankle, but reports in Belgium have claimed that he has now undergone a scan that has revealed no break, although he has suffered ligament damage.
Sunday’s match was already due to be the final game of Sortloth’s loan spell and he will be hoping to use the summer break to return to full fitness ahead of pre-season with Palace. The 23-year-old’s long-term future remains up in the air, as he does not seem to figure in Roy Hodgson’s plans at Selhurst Park, although an impressive pre-season could, at the very least, put him back in the shop window.
