Nigeria defender Jamilu Collins scored an unfortunate own goal as SC Paderbon lost 2-1 at home to Hertha Berlin at the Benteler-Arena.
Dedryck Boyata got things off in the 10th minute for the visitors before Dennis Srbeny equalised six minutes into the second half from an extremely tight angle, the assist coming from Ghana forward Christopher Antwi-Adjei’s quick throw-in.
Collins would go on to have a hand in Hertha’s winner after Matheus Cunha’s back heel took a deflection off the Nigeria international on the way into the net.

Paderborn remain in last place on the Bundesliga log, five points away from safety.
They next face a difficult trip to Bayern Munich next Friday.

A case of two leftbacks that can provide the necessary competition to raise each other’s games. Whilst Jamilu Collins had what can be described as a game to forget yesterday another left back in another league had one to rember.
Zaidu sanusi of Santa Clara in the Portuguese premier league posted a man of the match performance, creating big chances as well as provided defensive cover and attacking impetus in their 1-0 win against Tondela in the league. Zaidu, nicknamed “Speedy Gonzalez” by his team mates has posted several excellent displays for his club this season, however, needs consistency in his game.
Competition for the left back position in the Super Eagles is necessary and could he be the one to provide the threat to make Jamilu step up both for club and country/ Can he also up his game in order to fight for the position?
Time will tell
Nicknamed “The Sonic” not Speedy
And a loss is certain against Bayern Munich, compounding an already difficult situation Paderborn found themselves this season.Unfortunately,it seems unredeemable keeping stay at the topflight of German football for this modest side.
However,if that’s the case i hope Collins is able to find another bundesliga club to help him development.
Apparently, his last game for the super eagles left much to be desired and it’s time he improved to keep his place in the super eagles which looks unlikely with his international gaffer scouting players in Europe for his position, top on his list is one Okoroji a German born Nigerian left back,Chima Akas of Belenenses and Santa Clara’s Zaidu Sanusi.
Interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks as we await the lists for the double header against Sierra Leone.Though Collins is expected to be on the list.
