Former Nigerian midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju has disclosed that it will be too early to tag the Super Eagles as one of the favourites to lift the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Recall that the three-time AFCON champions qualified from Group L unbeaten and top of the log after overcoming teams such as Sierra Leone, Lesotho, and Benin.
Reacting to this development, the ‘Headmaster’ as he was fondly regarded during his playing days, told Completesports.ng that it won’t wise to start tipping Nigeria as favourites.
“It will be too early to start looking at the chances of the Super Eagles at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. I am very delighted that the team qualified for the bi-annual tournament unbeaten during the qualifying series, however, is going to be a different ball game once the tournament kick-off.
“I don’t think we should start tagging the team a favourite for the tournament. Anything can happen in the space of one minute. So let’s keep our fingers crossed till that period.”

aids boy
Why can’t this boy go back home where he will be, perhaps, talk about the bafana as he want and his people will understand and appreciates what is he talking about. Just to let you know boy, if you don’t get it by now, Nigerians don’t care a hute about South Africa football. You are just giving your Country a bad image by your interference in Nigeria sport internal affairs in this place. Don’t you care about what people around the World think of your Nation? Nigerians, everywhere knows you immediately they read your rude, bad English and your talk of bafana or your general manners. It is like Nigerians smell you from afar and they just ignore you and the Country you came from. Personally, l feel sorry for you and your Country. booby, go home to cry and demand from your Country’s football Association to emulate everything that Nigeria and other West African Nations are doing. We Nigerians never stops to express our feelings about our football and/or about our players any where they play. We don’t know or care about any Country , bafana or whatever.
My Nigerian fans, Please, ignore any South African comments and this uneducated boy in particular. He is mentally deficient. Up Super Eagle. We will bring the African Cup Home this time. Omo9ja, l support the views you expressed. Thank you.

“It will Be Too Early To Tag Super Eagles As AFCON Favourite – Adepoju”
Okayyyyyyy. So, shall we wait until eternity then?
We have a team for five years and you as ex player says we shouldn’t ask Super Eagles to go for the trophy in Cameroon? Are you kidding me?
We are so biased in this country. Why are we deceiving ourselves.
You have played club football and country football before and as an experienced ex player, if you were NFF, would you not task Oga Rohr and his troops to go for the gold in Cameroon?
We have a team for five years and you are convinced that we have a team we can be proud of but we shouldn’t expecting Super Eagles to win the next Afcon?
No wonder Nigeria as a country remains the same all these years.
If you love Super Eagles and Nigeria, you better task Oga Rohr to win the next Afcon trophy in Cameroon.

According to your statement Mr. Adepoju, this means deep down in you, you knew that the coaching department not strong or capable to win the championship in Cameroon.
Why are we deceiving ourselves again?
I have said it before and I will confirm that to you all Oga Rohr fans, NFF and Oga Rohr himself that winning the next Afcon in Cameroon is not negotiable period.
We are tired of excuses. God for bid, if he, Mr. Gernot Rohr fails in Cameroon, Oga Rohr should be replaced instantly by Amunike and Egbo.
You were there during the Westerhof era and you can testify to that Mr. Westerhof won two medals, one Silver and one gold and he qualified to Afcon and world cup and took the world by storm within the five years.
It’s five years that Oga Rohr has been with the team and you are still saying that we should not expecting him to win trophy in Cameroon ba? May be we should wait for five more years then.
The Afcon in Cameroon will decide Oga Rohr fate.
We want the best for this nation. Oga Rohr is not working for free and it is our responsibility to support and ask him to do more so that we can win trophies but if this doesn’t happen then, we can’t continue like this. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Super Eagles can lift Afco Cup trophy in Cameroon if Oga Rhor change SE style of playing as follows:- playing with depth and pressing ball from the defence to the attackt with (Ticky-Tacka) style in iorder to possess the ball long and more time, then the rival committ errors that SE can score goals; give instructions to the defensive midfielders to control rival’s key players to spoil thier attacks, give center backs to recover strikers properly, give side backs to spoil the rival’s set-piecses; give SE strikers to play on the errors of the rival in order to score goals; give the wingers to play crosses balls over or ground to the strikers just for Onauchu who has proper head goals; give strong instructions to the defence players espcially(defensive midfielders-center backs-side backs) to recover and rid the dangerous balls on the tangency line; give the defence players to play sliding ball to press then spoil the rival’s tactics and thier style of playing, then you can control and possess the any match then you can win any match whatever strength of the rival…
Thank you @Hassan Tia, CSN should help us give the details to Oga Rohr so that Eagles can adapt to that system quickly.
This is the way our under 17 Marnu Gerba team used to play back then in 2013 in UAE.
We have what it takes to beat any team and win in any tournament if we believe in ourselves.
You have said it all bro Hassan. There are two things that lacking in this Super Eagles.
No1. Lack of confidence of the coaches in charge of the team and no2, insufficient knowledge of the modern football. In another word, tactics.
@Edoman, my lovely friend, thank you. God bless Nigeria!!!
Thank you Omo9ja for your commentary about my opinion; I rejct a question why SE under big team play excellently than the big one?! lift trophies SA under 17 and players who lift these trophies join big team just like Keletchi Iheanachu,Victor Osimhen, Keletchi Nwakali, Samuel Chukwueze all thoes players won these cups, but why do thoes players win Afco Cup?! this question reject him self…
