Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface has reflected on his spell on the spell on the sidelines, reports Completesports.com.
Boniface made his first appearance for Die Werkself this year in Wednesday’s DFB Pokal semi-final victory against Fortuna Dusseldorf.
The forward took the place of Patrick Schick in 66th minute.
The Nigeria international spent around three months on the sidelines after undergoing surgery for an adductor injury in January.
The forward stated that it was difficult for him to be sidelined for a long time.
“To be honest, it was very difficult, you know. I got injured in preparations to represent my country and the timing was bad because Leverkusen really needed me, but I had my teammates, I had the coach, and everyone in the club was there for me, so it was good,” the striker told the club’s official website.
The striker has so far registered 16 goals and seven assists in 25 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen this season.
