Inter Milan are targeting a move for West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic as an alternative to Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku. New Inter boss Antonio Conte has put a new striker at the top of his wanted list with Lukaku said to be his top target.
However, concluding a deal is proving to be far from easy and the Nerazzurri are being forced to explore other options. One such option is Arnautovic, another striker that Conte knows all about following his time in England while in charge of Chelsea, and one that would cost significantly less than Lukaku, who is valued at £70million.
Reports suggest that the Austrian could be available for £30million and West Ham could opt to cash in after refusing to sell in the January transfer window. Arnautovic is unhappy after the Hammers blocked a switch to China in the winter window, and would jump at the chance of a move to the San Siro if Inter stepped up their interest by making a bid.
