Inter Milan are in negotiations to sign Udinese and Nigeria international goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, who is valued at €12m plus bonuses.
Serie A champions Inter are in search of a younger shot-stopper to be the heir to Yann Sommer and do not seem intent on activating their option to buy Emil Audero, who spent this season on loan from Sampdoria.
According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Okoye is high on the Inter wish-list and they are in talks to get a deal done this summer.
Okoye was not the first choice at Udinese, but eventually proved decisive to secure their safety on the final round of the Serie A season.
He turns 25 in August and has 16 senior caps for Nigeria, under contract at the Bluenergy Arena until June 2027.
Formerly at Watford and Sparta Rotterdam, he joined Udinese in August 2023 and secured 22 appearances this season between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
He is currently with the Super Eagles in Uyo ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.

I have a strong suspicion Okoye will man the post today against South Africa.
That’s if Nwabali is injured.
For continuity’s sake, Finidi better stick with Nwabali….this is not a friendly game; it’s serious business!

Hahahaha…..what a way to stuff humble pies into the gutters of your haters and shut their mouths for good….LMAOoo
He has prepareth a table for you in the presence of your enemies.
“He is not a super eagles material”
“Rohr is only inviting him because he is half-white”
“Rohr spent 6 years without finding us a quality GK”
Oya, shebi it is also Rohr that installed Maduka as Udinese 1st choice ahead of Silverstri after just half a season in the italian serie A…..LMAOoo.
He must also be attracting interest from top clubs like Roma and Inter Milan because he is half-german.
“Unquality Gk” is about to be signed for 12m by Italian league champions LMAoooo.
They have been doing PR marketing job for quality GK since January, yet nothing concrete has emerged. The footballing directors of European clubs must be daft and incompetent…LMAOoo
As they say in Nigerian parlance , “Sabi nor dey make noise”
Ride on Okoye, even though I feel you should still stay 1 or 2 more seasons as 1st choice at Udinese.
May the Almighty guide you right.
@Dr. Drey sure Okoye is a very good goalie but he was not ready for the SE. He was constantly loosing his confidence in SE shirt. We can not say bcos we know he’s good and just be watching him to be committing blunders when we’re not playing club football and even in club football, is not every coach that have that kind of patience.
Even in his return he’s still has to prove himself. This is national team failure for any player to prove himself we have him loosing his spot to another.
Pls what blunders did he commit in the SE….?
Certainly, he is not good enough for the SE…….That is why AS Roma and Inter are inquiring about him. The level of football they play in the SE is higher than the Serie A….that’s why he can be referred to in glowing teams in Italy, but “not good enough” for the SE.
He is barely 25 yet (I mean real 25, not 45 masquerading as 25…LMAOoo), but he has twice in 2 different clubs in the “toppest leagues” in Europe confined two no 1 GKs to the bench within his first half a season at both clubs and have been credited for standing between the clubs and relegation in both instances.
I have come to accept that when CSN fans claim a player is not good for the SE, he is actually one of the best Nigerian players around in his positions…. a la Ekong, Onyeka and now Okoye.
I dont know why some of you are so edgy about Okoye’s progress….LMAOOo…Nobody has said he should walk back into the SE as if nobody is/was there.
Which people is always behind all these fake news, the same way Osimhen news was going round and I was just laughing. Is this to raise Maduka profile before SA match or bloggers are just chasing clout
“…According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio…”
That up there isn’t just any hungry blogger scavenging for traffic.
I checked sky sport and every transfer rumour in Italy including udenese’s transfer rumour, I shouldn’t find the news
Hahahahaha….but its there on Skysport Italia, Cultofcalcio and Football Italia.
Search deeper bro. The rumours are real. The only snag will be if Okoye and Udinese are willing to take the enquiries any further.
That’s great for Maduka Okoye but club form doesn’t necessarily translate to National team football. It’s a different terrain altogether. We saw how Inaki Williams struggled with Ghana at the AFCON but on his return to Bilboa, he sank FC Barcelona. James Beatie was always prolific for clubside but constantly flopped for National team. A certain Pauletta always flopped when it matters with Portugal while one-legged Nuno Gomez comes cluth in crucial moments. Jonathan Akpoborie in Super Eagles shirt nko? Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard with England nde? I’m happy for Okoye’s steady success and progress. If he gets another shot at Eagles goal, I hope he grabs it with both hands and not letting in a North-Pole shot from Msakni beat him at Sowetu.
Nothing suggests that Nwabali should be dropped for Okoye. Even with a porous Chippa defence in South Africa, Nwabali is one of the major pillars of the team – the reason they haven’t being relegated. His case is akin to Jordan Pickford with Everton.
Oga…the whole Ghana team struggled at Afcon and Akpoborie was never a SE flop. He like Oruma were just unlucky to be a part of an extra talented bunch.
And to claim the likes of Pedro Pauletta, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard where club players is the biggest joke I’ve heard this year……LMAOoo.
I am still struggling to understand why Okoye’s progress is putting your likes on the edge.
Oga, I don’t hate no one. I already stated that I’m happy for Okoye’s progress. And yes, Pauletta never rose to the occasion when it mattered for Portugal (especially in Tournaments). Nuno Gomez’s impact at 2004 Euro is bigger than whatever Paulette did in World Cup or Euro Qualifiers. He was never a big-game-player for Portugal. Manchester, Deco, Coustinha, Concencaio e.t.c were all big-game-players. I’m not speaking hear-say, I’ve being a Portuguese fan for years.
Furthermore, Lampard and Gerrard never translated their superb club form for THREE LIONS, that’s a fact!
National team and club football are different!
*maniche*
Hello@John… Pauleta was once the all time highest goal scorer for Portugal until C Ronaldo broke the record.
I don’t understand what you meant by “always Flopped “
When he’s still behind Ronaldo and ahead of might Eusebio on Portugal’s all time scorer’s chat.
Mention how many important goals he scored at the World Cup or Euros for Portugal. According to history, Eusebio was crack for Benfica and Portugal, shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence with Pauletta. It’s not about scoring against Kosovo, Moldova, Luxembourg e.t.c in Qualifiers
