Manager Zinedine Zidane insists he is ignoring all the criticism aimed at him and will just keeping doing his job at Real Madrid.
The French tactician has been hammered in the Spanish press after Real’s perceived lacklustre start to the season, with reports that Los Blancos officials are lining up Jose Mourinho to take over if things do not improve.
However, despite not being at their best, the capital outfit are second in the La Liga standings and level on points with table-topping Athletic Bilbao.
They were comprehensibly beaten in the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain – a result that ramped up the pressure on the World Cup winner, but they responded by downing Sevilla 1-0 on Sunday night after Karim Benzema bagged the only goal of the game on 64 minutes at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Expectation levels at a club the size of Real are always huge and both the board and fans demand results in every match.
It remains to be seen how the season pans out, and if Zidane is still in his job in May, but the former Real forward made it clear he has not been affected by the negativity.
“It’s always the same, there has always been criticism and there always will be,” he told a press conference on Tuesday.
“I don’t even think about it. It is what it is, it happens. When we lose, I’m going to get sacked, and when we win, I’m the best. You just have to keep working.”
Real are back in action when they welcome Osasuna to the Bernabeu on Wednesday night.
