Harry Winks says the Tottenham squad are delighted Christian Eriksen is still with the club after a summer of speculation.
The Dane has only one year remaining on his current deal and could start talking to clubs in January over a pre-contract agreement.
The 27-year-old has been with Spurs since 2013 but hinted just after the Champions League final loss to Liverpool in June that he may be ready to seek a new challenge.
Mauricio Pochettino decided to drop Eriksen for the first game of the season against Aston Villa but he came off the bench to help them come from behind to win 3-1.
He was also absent from the starting line-up in their 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle but was brought off the bench.
There has been speculation over a power struggle between player and manager, though Pochettino rebuffed those rumours.
However, Winks says the Spurs squad are thrilled to see him still a member of the squad and he has been impressed with Eriksen’s level of professionalism.
“He’s been one of our most impressive performers over the last few years. Christian’s a top person and whatever he decides, that’s up to him. “All we can say is how well he’s performed for us this season and how professional he is. He’s fantastic.”
Eriksen has been an unqualified success for Spurs since making the move from Ajax six years ago.
He has played 281 times for Spurs in all competitions, scoring 67 goals in that period, 60 coming in the Premier League.
He has yet to win a trophy with the club and came closest in the Champions League final where they were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool.
Real Madrid had been the team linked with a move more than anyone, but the European transfer window slammed shut on Monday with no deal agreed.
Spurs had appeared to make contingency plans in case Eriksen did depart the club during the summer.
Tanguy Ndombele was brought in as the club-record capture from Lyon in a deal worth £62million early in the summer.
Attacking midfielder Giovani Lo Celso was also signed on deadline day in a loan deal, which is set to become a permanent £55million move in the summer.
Eriksen will still represent Spurs for now, though any talks of a new contract appear to be off the table with the midfielder keen to weigh up his options once more when January comes round.
He is now with the Denmark squad ahead of Euro 2020 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia, before returning to Spurs after the internationals when he will face Crystal Palace on September 14.
