Watford are contenders to snap up Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba this summer but face serious competition. The 18-year-old forced his way into Saint-Etienne’s first team last season, making 16 appearances in Ligue 1, and his exploits haven’t gone unnoticed.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal are understood to be the frontrunners, while Watford and Southampton are also keen. Reports in France claim Les Verts are willing to sell for £26million but only if they can take Saliba back on-loan for 2019-20.
A deal of that making is unlikely to interest Watford, who would want to bring Saliba in immediately, but the report states they are waiting in the wings in case their rivals look elsewhere.
