Blackburn Rovers are reportedly in talks to sign Brighton goalkeeper Christian Walton on a season-long loan. Rovers boss Tony Mowbray is eager to strengthen his keeping options after allowing Spanish shot-stopper Daya Raya to join Brentford this summer in a deal believed to be worth around £3million.
Blackburn are claimed to have set their sights on signing former England Under-21 international Walton, who has spent the last two seasons on loan at Wigan Athletic. The 23-year-old helped Latics win the League One title during his debut campaign at the DW Stadium before then playing a major role in securing the club’s Championship status last term.
With Walton currently fourth choice at the AMEX Stadium, another temporary stint looks to be the best option for him and reports are suggesting talks have been positive about a switch to Ewood Park.
Negotiations are expected to progress over the next couple of days before a season-long loan deal is confirmed for the goalkeeper, who has only made three league appearances for the Seagulls since being promoted from the youth ranks in 2013.
