Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp has urged his team to do more in pre-season after their defeat to Burton Albion on Tuesday night.
The Blades played their second friendly of the summer at the Pirelli Stadium and lost 2-1 to Nigel Clough’s troops. While most players are using pre-season as a way to build up fitness, Sharp was left disappointed at his team’s sloppiness in both boxes.
Sharp and co are currently just weeks away from playing in the Premier League and he admits his team must do more in their remaining friendlies. He told the Sheffield Star: “We don’t like to lose.
It doesn’t matter what the game or the occasion is. It not something that sits comfortably with us. The gaffer makes sure of that. “We played a lot of good stuff (at Albion) but got a little bit sloppy in both boxes.
That’s something we need to cut out the next time we’re on the pitch.” Chris Wilder’s men face Northampton Town in their next friendly, while they then face Chesterfield and Barnsley in their remaining warm-up matches.
Their first league game comes against Bournemouth on Saturday August 10.
