Midfielder Radja Nainggolan has joined Cagliari on a season-long loan from Inter Milan – his second spell at the Sardinian club. The 31-year-old first played at the Sardegna Arena in 2010, joining on loan from Piacenza, but he soon penned permanent terms and remained at the club until 2014.

Following four years at Roma, the former Belgium international moved to the San Siro last summer and made 29 Serie A appearances for Inter last term, scoring six goals. It seems as though he is surplus to requirements under Antonio Conte and has returned to Cagliari, admitting it was an easy decision to make.
“It was not hard to choose Cagliari although I did have other offers,” he said. “I spoke with some other managers but it was right to come back here and I must first thank the president. “After our first call, he completely convinced me right away, he made promises and he has kept them. Things have gone the way I would have liked them to have gone and it was easy to reach an agreement.”
