Lucas Moura is confident the Audi Cup has served as great preparation going into the new season for Tottenham. Spurs lifted the pre-season trophy on Wednesday evening after overcoming Bayern Munich on penalty kicks. Mauricio Pochettino’s men built up a 2-0 advantage thanks to goals from Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen but were pegged back late on.

However, Spurs won the shootout to win the Audi Cup following their semi-final win over Real Madrid on Tuesday. Tottenham have one more pre-season friendly left on their schedule as they take on Inter Milan in the International Champions Cup on Sunday before the Premier League season begins next Saturday with a home game against Aston Villa. And, speaking after the Bayern game, Moura says the quality of opposition has been the ideal test heading into 2019-20. “It’s very important to work hard in pre-season,” said the former PSG attacker.
“Games like this make us ready for the season because the year will be very hard. “It was two hard days, two hard games and I’m very happy to get my first trophy with Tottenham! That is my objective always – to be a champion – and we will work hard this season to have more trophies. I think we are doing a good job and are almost ready for the season.”
