Stoke are set to battle it out with Celtic to try and lure George Baldock away from Sheffield United in the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old right-back is a key man in Blades boss Chris Wilder’s plans, having made 61 Championship appearances in two seasons since arriving from MK Dons in summer 2017.
Baldock also played an important role in helping the Blades earn automatic promotion to the Premier League last season and it is likely that Wilder will want him to continue at Bramall Lane for the upcoming season. However, as he is now in the final year of his contract and yet to agree terms on a fresh deal, it has resulted in speculation that he could leave.

Scottish champions Celtic are keen to bolster their ranks and a move north of the borer could appeal to Baldock, especially with Champions League football on offer. Reports claim Stoke are also looking at signing him as boss Nathan Jones is rebuilding the Potters in a bid to secure promotion form the Championship.
It is unlikely that Baldock would fancy dropping back down a league after working hard to get to the top flight with the Blades. But a move to Celtic is a possibility unless United can come up with a satisfactory new deal offer – or decide to keep him on board and risk losing him on a free transfer in 12 months.
