Inter Milan could be without midfielder Valentino Lazaro for the remainder of their pre-season preparations due to injury. The 23-year-old only joined Inter at the start of July, after sealing a 22million euro switch from Hertha Berlin, but a thigh problem could delay the start of his San Siro career.
Lazaro revealed on his Twitter page that he had suffered a ‘muscular strain in his right thigh’ during the club’s trip to Singapore and that he won’t know how serious it is until ‘the coming days’. Boss Antonio Conte will have his fingers crossed that it is only a minor setback, having already been dealt an injury blow earlier this week over another Inter winger.
Matteo Politano, who secured a permanent move from Sassuolo this summer, also suffered a thigh problem early in pre-season and was forced to sit out Sunday’s 2-1 friendly win over Lugano. Plitano and Lazaro both look likely to miss Inter’s next pre-season fixture, which comes on Saturday when they face Manchester United in their opening International Champions Cup clash in Singapore.
Following Saturday’s clash with United, Conte’s men then face Juventus on Wednesday in China before taking on Paris Saint-Germain in Macau on July 27 and then Tottenham Hotspur in London on August 4.
