Wigan Warriors winger Joe Burgess says he is 100% focused on the job at the club with his future yet to be resolved. The 24-year-old has had an excellent start to the new season and backed up the hat-trick he grabbed against Catalans Dragons with a double against Castleford Tigers last Friday.

Burgess is re-establishing himself back in the Wigan side after an injury-ravaged 2018 campaign, in which he figured sparingly after an 11-month lay off. He is out of contract at the end of the season, but the former Sydney Roosters man says he is not currently thinking about his long-term future.
“I’ve got to get back playing before I can think about that,” said the 24-year-old, who made his comeback against Salford little more than two weeks ago. “My first goal was to get in the team and cement my spot – and I’m not there yet. “I’ll need five or six good games before I can feel it’s cemented. I’ve not even thought about a contract. “Trying to get play well enough to get in the Great Britain squad is a bigger goal than thinking of my contract.”
