Bordeaux have been hit by the news striker Josh Maja will miss the rest of the season after straining his cruciate knee ligaments. The 20-year-old, who scored his first goal for the French Ligue 1 side since his January switch from Sunderland in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat against Nimes, picked up the injury in the same game.

And, Bordeaux have now revealed that Maja has hurt the cruciate ligaments in his left knee, while also damaging the meniscus. He will undergo arthroscopy to repair his meniscus and then faces up to seven weeks on the sidelines, which means he will not be fit for Les Girondins until next season.
Despite the disappointment of losing Maja, the club will no doubt be relieved that the player didn’t rupture his anterior cruciate ligament which would have ruled him out for the rest of the year.
