Amanda Anisimova is through to the French Open semi-finals after knocking out defending champion Simona Halep. Making just her second appearance at Roland Garros, unseeded Anisimova continued her sensational run by pulling off a shock victory against world number three Halep.

The 17-year-old American, who was the first player – male or female – born in the 2000s to reach a Grand Slam quarter-final, produced a stunning performance to win 6-2 6-4 in 1hr 8mins. She becomes the youngest US woman to reach a Grand Slam semi-final since Venus Williams was runner-up at the US Open in 1997 and is the youngest American female to reach the last four at Roland Garros since Jennifer Capriati in 1990.
World number 51 Anisimova, who won her maiden WTA title at the Copa Colsanitas in April, will take on Australian eighth seed Ashleigh Barty, who beat American Madison Keys 6-3 7-5, for a place in the final. The second semi-final sees British number one Johanna Konta take on unseeded Czech Marketa Vondrousova.
