IMO State Football Association headed by Chief Amanze Uchegbulam, a former First Vice President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has poured encomium on Franklin Aguguesi, a young referee with the state referees council for an outstanding performance in the concluded State Aiteo Cup competition, Completesports.com reports.
The commendation followed referee Aguguesi’s incredible performance in the game between NPFL side, Heartland and rookie side, Jossy United of Orlu.
The match was decided at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, with Jossy United emerging winners with a 1-0 scoreline.
The referee’s courage, firmness, fairness and excellent application of the rules of the game and ability to assert his authority while in control of the game did not miss the attention of the FA who believes the young arbiter has bright prospect in the whistling hobby.
In a commendation letter with reference number, ISFA/AFB/65/Vol.111/158 and signed by the Secretary of the association, Godfrey Ndudi, a copy of which is in possession of Completesports, the FA says it is proud of referee Aguguesi’s performance in the match.
“The association is proud of you and your team of officials (assistants) in the said match…,” the commendation letter reads in part.
“However, we urge you to keep it up as we expect (look forward) to see you in FIFA status soonest which we know you are competent enough to achieve with your present wonderful performance.”
