Real Sociedad head coach Imanol has admitted his side are “in a great moment” after Thursday’s 3-0 win over Alaves moved them second in La Liga. Sociedad have had a fine start to the season and took their points tally to 13 after last night’s impressive victory.
Imanol’s side are now just a point behind leaders Real Madrid and sit second after six games after picking up four wins so far. Thursday’s success over Alaves came courtesy of a dominant first-half display at the Anoeta with all three goals coming before the break.
Mikel Oyarzabal put them ahead inside 20 minutes before Willian Jose doubled the lead soon after. Oyarzabal made it 3-0 from the penalty spot with his second of the game just before half-time and that was enough to seal a comfortable win.
Imanol was natually pleased with another victory but refused to get carried away. He said afterwards: “We don’t have euphoria. I know there will be a bad day. We must be calm, but there is no doubt that we are in a great moment.”
Imanol was delighted with his side’s efforts and also thanked the Sociedad fans for their backing.
He added: “The players have made it seem simple, but not at all, there is never an easy match. I want to thank the fans for their help. That helps and together we have moved forward.”
Sociedad are next in action when they go to Sevilla on Sunday, while Alaves, who are 17th after three straight defeats, host Mallorca.
