Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino believes that his new signing – Senegal forward, Nicolas Jackson, will score many goals for the Blues in the 2023/2024 season.
Chelsea acquired Jackson from Laliga outfit Villarreal in this 2023 summer transfer window and the 22-year-old forward signed an eight-year contract.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference ahead of the Chelsea vs Liverpool which takes place today: Sunday, August 13 at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino backed Jackson to adapt quickly to the Premier League.
“He’s a young player but I think he has the quality to enjoy being here and to score goals,” Chelseafc.comChelseafc.com quoted Pochettino as saying

“I think we are enjoying the way that we are working. He is working really hard, the quality is there. I think you could see in the preseason games that he showed that quality. Of course, Laliga is completely different from the Premier League.
“I have no doubt that he is going to score goals and his adaptation is going to be good because it’s not only his quality, it’s his character. He has great character, his personality is strong and for sure he is going to be good here.”
Jackson scored 12 goals and made four assists in 26 Laliga games for Villarreal to help the club finish fifth in the 2022/23 Laliga season with 64 points from 38 matches.
Chelsea finished 12th in the last Premier League campaign with 44 points accumulated from 38 matches.

Every Ivorian and Senegalese player that hit small headline in Europe gets attention of top clubs but the same can’t be said of Nigeria. You will expect Awoniyi to move to Chelsea or Arsenal with his performance of last season,Jackson’s stat is not better than Awoniyi’s.
Apparently,a Nigerian footy player has to perform like Osimhen to get their attention!
Nigerian players are meant to go and battle relegation first so that they can get noticed by top clubs…..LMAOoo
Haha..We only get attention of relegation battling teams! At best mid table ones..The likes of Iheanacho and Awoniyi are good enough for Manchester United,Chelsea and Liverpool. The strikers in those teams are not better than these two lads,my opinion though.
Because Senegalese players are bold and this boldness transmits to their agents who are not scared to negotiate big deals for them……. Unlike Nigerian players who will rather chicken to Turkey Cyprus Greece and division 2 league then turn to Eagles when the Nigerian national team is mentioned……I even commend the few SE player that are even daring to go to mid table teams in Top 5 leagues……half bread they say is better than none.
You expect Awoniyi to move to Madrid or Barcelona but you will gladly bench him for Ighalo and Musa in the super Eagles????…… Manchester United and Arsenal dey forbid Musa????Did Awoniyi even get into the EPL as a Nigerian international?……How many caps did Awoniyi hold when he was granted work permit by the British home office?…..Now you are fronting him and comparing him to Jackson and fofana……We need to identify out best players and start promoting their profile with national team caps to ease their way to stardom……Look at Orban now that is trying to move to Tottenham how many caps does he have for Nigeria?…… tomorrow now if Orban finally moves to a mid table or relegation candidate EPL team we will start crying that our national team players are not going to Liverpool and Manchester United…….you can not eat your cake and have it my dear friend.
