MFM FC head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has admitted that there’s still more work to be done on his side’s attack after they suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Enyimba Of Aba in their Sunday’s opening match of the 2018/19 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), reports Completesports.com.
MFM kicked off their campaign with relatively new and young squad alongside captain Austine Opara, Zikiye Jonathan, Abisoye Olawale, Julius Emiloju and Chijioke Akuneto.
But were undone, no thanks to goals from Nelson Ogbonnaya and Abdulrahman Bashir that earned the seven time champions Enyimba the maximum points from the encounter.
“I am not disappointed. I am not because we played a better side, honestly speaking. Enyimba is a big team we just tried if we can and that’s football,” Ilechukwu said in his post match interview.
“I think we really need serious work in converting chances which has been a problem even in our pre-season games.”
“You know when you have a lot of young players in the attack, I expect such thing and that was why we tried to get one or two experienced players but we couldn’t,” Ilechukwu concluded.
MFM FC will look to bounce back from this defeat when they host Kwara United in Matchday 2 of the NPFL at the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium on Wednesday.
