Despite ending the Premier League season on a barren run of 24 League games without a goal, Kelechi Iheanacho says he is not under pressure to perform for the Super Eagles ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Egypt reports Completesports.com.
The Leicester City midfielder was recalled back to the Super Eagles squad having been left out of Gernot Rohr’s squad in March.
He also remained upbeat on ending his goal drought for club and country.
The 22 year old last scored for Leicester City in September against Huddersfield.
“I am relaxed, just being focused and ready for the task ahead,” he was quoted in a report on Leicester City Mercury.
“I will be in camp hopefully, to start preparations for AFCON proper.”
“I am not under any pressure to deliver.
“I have been scoring goals for the Super Eagles and I want to score more.
“There are drought times for every striker and I am not an exemption but I will keep my head up, stay focused, determined and ready for the task ahead.
“My critics always spur me to do more, I have nothing to say about that. I just want to stay focused on my set goals and be professional to the core.”

You better don’t feel too comfortable.
Victor Osimhen, Paul,Onyekuru, all had a lovely season, sentiment apart, if it is based on form and performance this season Kelechi does not even deserve a call up.
But many of these coaches have their loyal soldiers who they always prefer to stick with irrespective of club performance.
Kele should raise up his game, he use to be so clinical in front of goal, what had really happened?
Iheanacho was once a name that put shivers on African defenders a few years ago, but now, most defenders wish he will start for Nigeria so that they can leave him and overlap cos they know that he does nothing with the ball
Accurate brother! You are on point.goals will come, remain focus and work hard. Next season might be your season of celebration.
He even said’i will be in camp hopefully’
He had better buckle down
Respect kBoy the only complete striker in the squad
Please stop underlining what you think he said right or wrong admonish him not discourage him…same goes to for all our players not performing at their optimal levels, they need Admonishment not discouragement, for there’s a huge difference between the two.
Guys Kelechi mouth don big we love him and have encouraged him all along but he must now learn to humble himself close his mouth and play for what he is paid for. Let him keep that trash old looking mouth aside it is disgusting. Everybody makes money but get their job done instead of giving dirty attitude because he now sees money that he never dreamt of when he was in the street of the Ghetto so as a village man he has lost is brains.

This guy has zero ambition and he is not ready to prove his critics wrong , anyway, I’m not surprised that he said these cos even he himself knows that he doesn’t deserve to be in Super Eagles’s provisional Squad but Rohr likes to stick with the people he knows that why this dude has the audacity to make this kind of comment, let him keep being lazy till Onuachu,Chukwueze,Osimehn and Onyekuru take his place, then he will be loaned to Zambia or central African republic to go learn how to play, A 22 year old that cannot compete with an aging striker (Vardy) and he is not bothered about that because is he is still receiving weekly wages.
