Embattled Nigeria forward, Kelechi Iheanacho will be keen to make his first Premier League start in 12 games when Leicester City visit Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium today, Completesports.com reports.
Meanwhile, the Foxes chief trainer, Brendan Rodgers has defended Iheanacho after strong criticism from the Nigerian national team boss, Gernot Rohr who left him out of the recent Super Eagles squad.
Iheanacho has, however, not scored a goal for Leicester in more than six months but his opportunities to end the lengthy goal drought have also dried up.
The former Nigerian youth international who has just one EPL goal this season has played less than ten minutes since Rodgers took the reins at the dugout of the former EPL champions.
His only Premier League strike, however, came against Huddersfield who the Foxes are playing this afternoon in the reverse fixture, and he could get redemption.
On the other hand, Iheanacho’s compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi who has two goals in 32 league outings currently tops the list of tacklers in the Premier League.
According to the Premier League official website, the 22-year-old Nigerian has successfully made 120 successful tackles so far this term.
Also from 81 top-flight appearances since moving to England, Ndidi has scored four goals while recording 31 wins, 17 draws and 33 losses.
