The former Watford however rescinded the decision after talks with head coach Gernot Rohr and Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick.
The striker is part of Nigeria’s 24-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.
“I’m happy to be back, it has been long (away from the team), almost two years plus and it is good to see some of the guys,” Ighalo said after arriving the team’s camp in Tangier, Morocco on Thursday afternoon.
“I have seen my strong man, (William) Ekong, hopefully I will see the other guys.”

I have seen my strong man, (William) Ekong, hopefully I will see the other guys. Ighalo.
What else can I add? I am happy you are guys are together in this.
Confidence without arrogance. Good luck Ighalo.
Selfish human being, you have played in the world cup and the Afcon, yet you can’t allow young players to build their career,it’s now that u are above 40 that u will win the world cup for us.
You are good. Do ensure victory is assertain for that’s the reason you are there. God bless you Odion.
Nigeria is the winner, Odion. Good to see you putting on the Green White colors. Love U. Your former neighbor.
Good to have you back my brother
The Eagles were more solid with you, Moses, Mikel and Musa (in his prime) on the field. God bless you. More young and exciting talents have joined since your hiatus. Please help build back that solidity with the young ones.
Your comment is wrong on many levels.
1. You lack ambitions
2. You lack faith that SE can achieve higher than round of 16 in World Cup or group stage in World Cup.
3. You still haven’t understood the level or calibre we have now. The biggest teams in Europe are lining up to pay more for the already most expensive player in Africa. (,I didn’t see any player achieve this in SE in Any of the players you mentioned above)
4 You still haven’t realised that the Level Osimhen has raised in Terms of Club Football. He and the likes of Ndidi (Whom Man U is circling) are indeed the players currently raising standards currently youngsters want to emulate which is amazing for Nigerian football
5. Taiwo Awoniyi is actually putting Nigeria football on the map in Germany when has that happened since Okocha played in Germany??
Non of those players actually gave us a real name in World Football all that happened with the exception of Mikel( sparringly) was that they warmed the bench and, all we were doing is holding on to memory’s of the 90. Even players in the 90s are not causing as much of a name for Nigeria in World Football as the likes of Osimhen, Ndidi and Samuel Chukwueze.
That comment means you are basically saying that Nigeria can do no better than what we achieved in Mikel, Musa and Ighalo Hayday.
*exceptions* Mikel and Moses (under conte).
