Everton manager Marco Silva has challenged Alex Iwobi to score more goals for the club and improve on the defensive side of his game, despite the Nigerian winger’s impressive start with the Toffees following his arrival from Arsenal, Completesports.com reports.
Iwobi has scored twice in three outings in all competitions for the Merseysiders so far.
The Nigeria international opened his goal account for Everton against Lincoln City in a Carabao Cup clash and also found the back of net against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last Premier League match before the international break.
Though widely recognised for his versatility and technical abilities, Iwobi has always struggled to add goals to his game and managed just 15 across all competitions during his time with Arsenal.
But Silva insists the 23-year-old has the quality to get better with time.
”He’s working really well, he has the quality. Many things to keep improving because he can really help our team. He has to score more goals. The other things is to keep improving is his defensive processes. He has the quality,” Silva told a news conference on Friday.
Silva however admits that Iwobi who arrived on summer transfer deadline day has been a quality addition to his team.
“We try to sign the right players, to come here and help us. One or two of them didn’t need time to adapt, they just changed the shirt. They adapt so fast, him and Fabian,” he added.
Everton will be away to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.

abeg iwobi should move back to his left or right wing, because we have found the best CAM. the real okocha aribo10.
And just off one game you have found your Okocha? How exactly was Aribo in the No10 role in that Ukraine match?
World people. Even in the said match, you didn’t see that the best chances created were all done by iwobi@Illuwa? Is it not obvious that iwobi’s creativity is dynamically different and above the rest of his peers in the present eagles. Ndi nmadu sef. One bad game now for aribo , he becomes a bad player. Where is Idowu? No be Nigeria again. Nonsense and buhari
my broda watch aribo in rangers he has play CM CAM even RW, but his most impressive games come as CAM.
I am just tired of hearing okocha replacement and things like that. Before okocha came to limelight who did he replace? He came and made his mark, leaving the stage for others to come in their own self to make their own mark. No player comes to replace any player, talents are gift that come in different packages. Same way Brazil is not looking for replacement for Ronadinho, nor England for Beckham. Iwobi is Iwobi, Aribo is Aribo, Okocha is Okocha, KANU is KANU and so on
what i mean is, iwobi best game come when playing as a winger. instance his direct style of play creativity, dribbles, vision, come whe he play as a winger.
but as CAM he barely shine.
iwobi has only shone in just two games as an attack midfielder, ukraine and libya matches. but from that wing uncountable times he outshone all his teammate

My brother@illuwa, you have been watching super eagles matches from the back of your television. Iwobi has performed admirably better when he has played through the middle for eagles. And for your information, have you asked yourself, for all Jay Jay okocha’s skill-set, he never donned the jersey of a true big club bar PSG(which as at then, weren’t even a world renowned team), the answer is simple, the big clubs use playmakers that helps to transition games from defence to attack quickly. Okocha hardly did that in his formative years. It was at Bolton he truely matured to do that but then age was no longer his friend. This is where “iwobhino” trumps him hands down. Watch the great ATTACKING MEDFIELDERS like Pirlo, Zidane, Carlos valderramma, Cantona, just to mention a few, they had something in common, progressive and quick exploitation of spaces. Okocha’s game was always built on skills and entertainment. I am not taking anything away from him but the truth is that, iwobi will be a far better attacking midfielder than his uncle. Now why i am very optimistic on the immediate future of the eagles is that, when chukwueze, Osimhen and kalu get to understand themselves on how to interchange spaces, make runs in between channels, then you will truly appreciate the creative abilities of Iwobi from the midfield. It will be too devastating. We want aribo to maintain and improve further, his skills and form, we need him to push and improve Iwobi as well as give us options for different match situations but that doesn’t mean Iwobi will be relegated. Make no mistakes about this, Iwobi will grow to be the main star of this team, same as osimhen being the most lethal of the team force because of his goal threat he will carry. Mark my word.
Sincerely, I’m still thinking of what the super eagles will in the next few months…
A good transition so far..
I think the only spot left unturn is the defence..
If Tomori can be nationalized, and ebuehi recovers fully ahhh ahhh, the sky will be our ground…
I am envisioning the best super eagles so far.
Weldone rohr..
