Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen have been nominated for the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Men’s World Best Player for 2024.
The duo are the only African players on the shortlist.
Lookman was recognised for his remarkable performances for Serie A club Atalanta.
The 27-year-old played a crucial role in La Dea’s UEFA Europa League success last season.

The winger scored a historic hat-trick in Gian Piero Gasperini’s side 3-0 final victory over Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
He also scored three goals in seven outings for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, scored 15 goals in 25 league appearances for the latter last season.
The forward also featured prominently in Nigeria’s AFCON 2023 campaign.
Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland won the award last year.
Haaland is also among the nominees for the prestigious award this year.

It’s good that two Nigeria player’s are nominated for this award and that is to show Nigeria are doing well
