Lobi Stars Chairman Mike Idoko, has charged the League Management Company to conduct a full-scale investigation into the unfortunate incident which saw the Makurdi side’s goalkeeper Ospino Egbe attacked by Sunshine Stars Chief Coach, Kayode Julius, just before their rescheduled NPFL tie, reports Completesports.com.
Egbe was expected to feature in the encounter having been named in the matchday squad, but the assault ruled him out of the encounter.
The game ended 3-0 with Chibundu Amah scoring a hat trick for Sunshine Stars.
“The assault was premeditated and we expect the LMC to move swiftly into action to maintain the integrity of the NPFL,” Idoko told Completesports.com.
“Moreover, this concerns the life of a professional footballer.
“Football is not meant for thugs who masquerade as coaches to tarnish the image of the League.”
“The incident affected the psyche of our players who were unstable. No surprise we lost the encounter.”
Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars have announced through it’s official Twitter Handle @SunshineStarsFC that their coach Julius has been suspended indefinitely as a result of the incidence.

This is the kind of injustices that goes on Nigeria every day why people wants to leave the Country. Why & how can anyone beat a young expiring goalkeeper until near death like this?
What has he done so ?
May Ogun and sango strike the hand that beat young man. Isa.
If this happens in a better organized league, that so called coach would be banned for life.
What a shame.
First of all, since this happened just before the game, Lobi Stars should have abandoned the match as the lives of their players was obviously under threat! That attack clearly affected the psyche of the players and contributed to the heavy loss the suffered in the game. The least that the LMC can do is to award the match to them to serve as a deterrent to other teams that cannot control their staff. The offending coach deserves at least a one year ban from the game.
