Welcome home guys!
The Libyans were hoping the match would still go on against a completely drained and demoralized Super Eagles. Their stupid FA released a wayo press release at the last minute trying to mend fences. Na who come wise pass???
These guys are known to be terrorists and they’re importing it into football while CAF does nothing or goes lenient with them.
This FOOTBALL TERRORISM must not go unpunished. I can’t wait to see Nigeria paired with a Libyan team again. The beating no go be here.
Grateful for the safe return of the team and the technical crew.
The matter on ground stopped being about football a long time ago.
I had begun to have serious doubts regarding the safety and security of our team, especially if we happened to win the game tomorrow.
Libya is for all intents and purposes still a warzone. They called off their civil war just four years ago, so the elements of war are still very much present. If we had beaten them tomorrow, who knows what might have happened?
Not saying there are no good people in Libya, but the fact remains that violent extremists are still very much present in that region, and these folks are not likely to respond peacefully to a home defeat at the hands of the SE.
This is where I think NFF dropped the ball. They are responsible for the safety and security of our team, and they should have proactively anticipated problems like these that were always likely to arise. They should have anticipated that the Libyans would abandon the team upon their arrival, so our embassy in Libya should have been mobilized to step in and take care of our team. These arrangements should have been put in place months in advance.
Trusting the Libyans to receive our team properly was naive and foolish.
Fortunately, the most we can lose now is 3 points. Better that than to risk the lives and limbs of our players and officials!
NFF didn’t drop any ball. The Nigerian delegation was at the airport the team was scheduled to arrive. Plane was diverted one hour to landing to a deserted airport 300km away from where NFF and Nigerian embassy team was. It was so confusing. Even the airline crew was nkt allowed to get a hotel. The hostility was so unnecessary and shameful kn the LFF part. Good news is that the team is baxk home safely… Great observation you pointed out there. If we win. It could endanger the teammand everyone from here
Based on the information that the team was stranded for 16 HOURS at the Al Abaq airport, I think the NFF could have done better.
16 hours is a long time! Even with the diversion of the plane, I would have expected NFF to reroute their delegation and be in Al Abaq to meet the team within 2 hours of receiving the information, or even less. I just can’t understand how 16 WHOLE HOURS was allowed to go by!
So pray tell, what were NFF officials doing during the 16 hours?
No excuses will work here. NFF dropped the ball big time.
It’s not easy like that the libyans did it intentionally, any attempt by NFF would have been thwarted also mind you they have access to everything in their own country
Well, I hear you, but I disagree completely. Mo yari kanle.
We just have to agree to disagree on this one.
The Libyans exposed themselves showing the world how unsportsmanlike they are even before they kicked the ball in Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo. It all started by the lies and accusations from their captain stating that they were treated harshly by the Nigerian football authorities. Their media quickly bought it and spread the false lies. This should be investigated by CAF and if their captain is found at fault, he should face the wrought from the CAF disciplinary committee.
Secondly let’s not forget all their time wasting antics during the game. They were visibility afraid of the Super Eagles and were not out to play soccer. The lone goal came too late and their plans came crashing down. After the game the Libyans officials rushed into the field to confront the referee and match officials. Even before the Super Eagles flew out to Libya, the news everywhere online was that the Libyans would treat the Eagles badly as a retaliation. Infact one of their dailies was already writing that the Eagles should not be welcomed well and already predicting that the Super Eagles will be be beaten 2 goals to nil by the Mediterranean Knights.
It came as no surprise the treatment the Super Eagles got when they arrived Libya.
Africa should realize that the world is watching. Such a thing cannot happen in Europe where most of our players are pursuing their career. CAF should ensure that the necessary disciplinary actions be taken so that such a thing does not repeat in the future.
What a TERRORIST country!!!.
I heard or read that we did them first when they were in Nigeria last week. Is it true? Maybe they overdid theirs. You see the Europeans will not do this to other teams. I remember how the northern teams like Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, will take our players to very cold region and play in the midnight when cool is highest. When they come for the return leg, we will play the match in the early afternoon when the sun dey pepper body. Like 2pm. It’s like tit for tat something. Let’s take it small small. As one guy observed, if we play and win or even draw, trouble may arise. Losing 3 points and being fined is better than risking the lives of our players.
All these antics are not new at all. North Africans do that alot. While I am
condemning the act, but because our clubsides don’t go far in CAF competitions these days, we dont have a book to copy from.
All our players are ajebo without CCC and CAF CL experiences, otherwise these antics are not new. Enyimba players know better.
The late MKO Abiola once narrated how many hours he spent driving his team in Zambia becos of CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.It should not be encouraged though
Thank God our boys made home, this what Islam brings to the world, sorrow, kidnapping, terrorism, oppression and regression
