Brazil defeated world champions Spain 4-2 to reach the final of the women’s football event of the Paris Olympic games on Tuesday night.
Brazil has now qualified for a third Olympic final since participating at the games.
When Brazil faced Spain in the group stage at this summer’s Olympic, the former lost 2-0.
Brazil took the lead as early as the sixth minute when Irene Paredes turned the ball into her own net.
In four minutes of first half added time, Brazil doubled their lead thanks to Gabi Portilho.
Adriana made it 3-0 in favour of Brazil on 71 minutes but Spain pulled a goal back through Salma Paralluelo on 85 minutes.
In the 91st minute Kerolin got Brazil’s fourth goal before Paralluelo got her second goal to end the game 4-2.
The South American football power house will now take on the United States of America in the gold medal match of the Paris Olympic games.
This would be the third time Brazil and USA would meet in the Olympics final, with the Americans triumphing in the previous meetings at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.
Meanwhile, the men’s final is between hosts France and Spain following victories against Egypt and Morocco in the semi-finals respectfully.

A masterclass in counter-attacking football from the Brazilians. The Spanish girls never knew what hit them after every counterattack. The Brazilians looked like scoring every time they had the opportunity to break the Spanish lines.
These are the teams (together with former world champions and Olympic finalists Japan) we hoped to defeat with 10 days camping…..LMAOoo. Bunch of jokers…!
I am so happy for Martha. She will be bowing out of the game on a high after all.
An honor well deserved.
you are right my friend Drey,
Nigeria is a big joke, the same mistake they will repeat again and again
Those in charge of our football need serious flogging, they have learnt nothing over the years, its all about how much they going to pocket in a big tournament like this,
you want success, you have the girls and technical crew to help execute the job instead you cripple them by camping them 2/3 weeks to a tournament of the magnitude while those who are serious prepare with 2 years ahead of time can rightly say that our girls, considering the situation Nigeria put them, i can say they won gold
i salute their courage in the face of adversity that its own country put them to, i also salute the Coach, he did a great job and wish he will continue, if they where giving a helping hand i strongly believe they would have done
Both Brazil and Spain never believed they would go such length and excruciating pain before beating nigeria
I hate Nigeria with all my strenght!
It’s like Malawi finding itself in an AFCON group consisting of Nigeria, Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire and camping for 10 days before hitting the venue of the tournament…..LMAOoo.
Japan was already completing their own preparations with a 3rd friendly (vs Ghana) when our list for camping was just being released.
Eventually we played a friendly against North American opposition (on their invitation, not ours), when we had Asian, European and South American opposition in our group….LMAOOo
What a way to prepare….LMAOoo.
Even at that it was a low-budget, low-frills, low-tempo Okrika friendly that predictably yielded low returns.
Alhaji Gusau (and the sports ministry) is finding out the hard way that there are no shortcuts in football.
Get Okrika coach in Finidi you get Okrika results.
Embark on Okrika preparations with the Super Falcons and achieve Okrika outcome in Olympics.
This Okrika NFF will always deliver tattered outputs unless it starts wearing Caftan management approach.
Talking about Okrika, let’s wait and watch how delay in getting a new coach would somehow gift Eguavoen the position.
I used to wonder why we start preparation and camping late on
Because we have an incompetent NFF, simple!!
In yet another move draped in Okrika regalia, it is being rumored the Eguavoen will likely lead the Super Eagles to September’s Afcon qualifiers as they fail to appoint a substantive coach.
Hahahaha!
You people kuku know me. If the NFF like they should employ Kermit the Frog to coach the Super Eagles, I will kukuma give Kermit my blessings and wish him well. The justification for his appointment could well be his green skin being in harmony with Nigeria’s national identity.
And when Kermit introduces his fr(d)oggy-style flamboyant freestyle brand of attacking football with froggy flair, we will celebrate it!
Useless people!!!
At this rate, it is better to fall in love with shot-put than continuing to patronise this pitiful product called Nigerian football.
RUBBISH!!!!!!
That FIFA “immunity” on FAs is glasshouse saving grace. Their statutes do not even give room for more people to vote in the next elections. The 36 mostly corrupt State FA chairmen will most likely return these bunch of NFF very incompetent, disaster class board of quota system election crass. I spit on glasshouse and thoroughly disdain everyone of them.
How can you keep repeating the same thing and expect a different result? Wait. Does NFF really think they are untouchable?
Even CS is fed up with their game of comical musical chairs. Nothing reported on the process because they now know the bunch are ready to drown Nigerian football.
@Deo the NFF is bent on employing someone who they can control according to reports and ditching away with the most qualified candidate in the person of Chelle. Nigeria football is making me sick everyday and I wish I had a second country at this point.
