Pls you guys should appoint Fidelis Ilechukwu of Enugu Rangers, ASAP.
Can I apply for this job? I don’t need pay, all I need is free hands to pick, if not the job should goto coach Olumide of BLA….. I’m just thinking who the cap fits to deliver the first World Cup without excuses!!!!
Why is this post vacant? According to owngoalnigeria.com, Ladan Bosso has been rewarded for never being able to navigate the Flying Eagles beyond quarter finals in the U-20 world cup after at least 4 bites of the cherry strewned across 16 years with promotion.
Yes, you heard me; a coach who has never won the U-20 Afcon after many attempts has been saddled with the responsibility of orchestrating Olympic Gold for Nigeria in men’s football.
Yeah right!
Tristan, if you are reading this, I hope you see why my expectations of and ambitions for Nigerian national teams can be gloomy at times.
Listen, I like Bosso because I have come to accept his as a mild mannered average coach who can always strive to knock the door of success even though he never has to keys to unlock the pinnacle of it.
If Bosso’s appointment as Under-23 Eagles coach proves true, then it’s not all bad. It only shows the summit of NFF’s ambitions to me.
In football there are no shortcuts. What you give is often what you get.
The Bosso I know will get certain things right. For instance, I genuinely expect Nigeria to qualify for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028 under Bosso, more so as his appointment has been made quite early.
However, I don’t expect us to win the U-23 Afcon (we will come 4th after losing the semi-finals and third place playoff) and I expect us to crash out of the Olympics at the quarter finals. That is what you are likely to get from Bosso which shows me the lack of ambition of this NFF.
For me, I will enjoy the games we win in the U-23 Afcon before the wheels fall off from the semi-finals and we come back 4th. I will enjoy our group stage exploits in Los Angeles Olympics before we lose to an African country in the quarter finals.
That for me will be manageable. Under this horrid, horrible, horrific method that our football is being manged at the moment, I will always be grateful to God for little mercies.
So Bosso, welcome on board. Please qualify us for the Olympics and give us at least one memorable match in the tournament to savour. You can’t give what you don’t have.
Again, I like Bosso ’cause I have accepted what he brings to the table. I would rather be at the men’s soccer Olympics with a faint hope of going far than being absent; I would rather we reach and play in the 3rd place playoff of the U-23 Afcon than crash out at the group stages. And these are bread and butter for Ladan Bosso, the sort of meal the NFF intends to continue shoving down our throats.
So, let the party begin or let the party continue, however you want to see it.
SO in essence you are good at accepting even Injustice, well @deo to some of us just the mere mention of that Name Bosso causes nausea of the highest degree. The name itself reeks of injustice and were Nigeria started to descend to the depths of despair, Bosso ke haha @deo sometimes it is better to challenge the status Quo that to just sit and keep getting fed rubbish to eat. this same acceptance is the reason Nigeria is where it is today.
Some of the greatest men in history would not be regarded as great today if they had this mentality you just displayed in your write-up
OK Ugo, thanks. What are your recommendations for changing the status quo? And more importantly, how do you intend to implement your recommendations to produce actual changes rather than gathering dust on the comment columns of Complete Sports Nigeria?
Another (intelligent) way to read and understand my epistle-rambling above is this: if I have my way, Ladan Bosso will never be my pick to manage the Olympic Eagles because his resume suggests he is not qualified for the job if you intend to replicate the success of the 1996 Olympic Gold, simple.
Don’t mind them @deo. Why are the advertising the post? Didn’t they advertise for the SE role, too, and after all the hue and dust, appoint Finidi to sabotage the WCQ and put us in a further mess?
A post they’ve already prepared another favorite son. No one should bother applying cos the appointee already knows it’s in the bag.
Haven’t they’ve already promoted their life employee, favorite son, and North-centric coach, Ladan Bosso, to the U23 team as a reward for decades of failure as a permanent U20 coach? Now the next U23 is going to be 90% northernized.
So where does Gusau’s other favorite and serial U23 failure, Salisu Ibrahim goes? He’s the standby-assistant or coach to the proposed Technical Adviser, likely Tom Seinfeit.
SE – salisu Ibrahim as coach or assistant to the incoming TA
U23 – Ladan Bosso (Likely permanently too, regardless of the result)
U20 – Likely Usman Abdallah
Wwelddon Gusau. Weldone.
SE – Salisu Ibrahim (Planned)
U23 – Ladan Bosso
U20 – Abdallah Usman (Likely)
U17 – Manu Garba
Gusau’s northerrnization actively agenda in process.
Adverts and applications are all formality. All appointments already concluded.
O GLASS HOUSE, HOUSE OF CORRUPTION AND INCOMPETENCE!
Enclave of mediocres.
This bunch of nitwits at the glass house don’t have the slightest interest of Nigeria at heart as they only want to implement the northern agenda or dominance.
Apparently a Spanish coach has applied for the role. Nice one.
