Legendary Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted he would love to one day return to the Red Devils as manager.
United had won just one of their past seven Premier League matches by the time they parted company with Solskjaer in November 2021, with his side seventh in the table, 12-points behind the leaders.
The 51-year-old has yet to return to management since he left Old Trafford, but has been linked with numerous vacancies as he contemplates his next step.
Speaking at a business summit, Solskjaer didn’t hide away the fact he’d love to return to United one day, though he fully respects that Erik ten Hag is the man in charge at the moment.
Asked if he would consider taking over United once more in the future, Solskjaer told the Oslo Business Forum on Thursday afternoon: “I would say yes every day of the week. It feels wrong to talk about jobs that other people have, but I would say yes of course.”
He was also questioned on the possibility of one day managing the Norwegian national side, a position currently held by former international teammate Ståle Solbakken.
“I am a proud Norwegian, and of course if the question arises, when Ståle decides to give up, I will happily engage in discussions. I am a proud Norwegian and proud of where I come from.”
Solskjaer was a member of the the United squad that won the Treble in the 1999/1999 season.
He scored the winning goal in stoppage time as United came from a goal down to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in the 1999 final at the Nou Camp.
