The National Sports Commission (NSC) has granted a $5,000 boost to the Nigeria U-19 cricket team at the ICC T20 World Cup in Malaysia.
The NSC disclosed this in a statement on its X handle.
NSC Director General, Bukola Olopade, conveyed messages of support from President Bola Tinubu and the Commission’s Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko, encouraged the team to continue their historic performance.
Olopade also made a personal contribution of $1,000 to team captain Lucky Piety to fulfill her request for a laptop. Additional incentives have been promised for each subsequent victory.
On Saturday Nigeria’s Super Six clash with England was abandoned due to rain.
They will take on Ireland in their second game in the Super Six on Wednesday, January 29.
