Inter Milan have confirmed Mauro Icardi is no longer their captain, with keeper Samir Handanovic taking over the armband. Icardi is currently under contract with the Nerazzurri until 2021 and the club are keen to tie him down to a longer deal, with a number of European outfits said to be interested in the Argentine forward.

Inter have not explained their decision but it may well be as a result of the protracted contract talks.
Last month Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara stated he would agree fresh terms with the Milan outfit, but it now remains to be seen if the 25-year-old is prepared to extend his stay.
