Jose Peseiro says he will decide his future in the coming days, reports Completesports.com.
Peseiro’s contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will run out at the end of this month.
The Portuguese has been courted by different national teams and clubs after guiding the Super Eagles to second position at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 63-year-old stated that he will decide his next move soon.

“I told everyone to come back at the end of the month. What is certain is that I want to continue coaching and I need to choose wisely,” he told Goal media.
“At this moment, I repeat, all options remain possible. I received a lot of options, and a lot of contacts from national teams or clubs.
“I would say 5, 6 or 7, he revealed, without revealing their identity.
“I let them all know that I need to rest and that when my contract expires I will talk about it and start thinking about other projects. And decide my future. For now, I need to take a break and be calm.
“But I listen to the proposals and projects that are offered to me. And I evaluate whether I like it or not.”

At this point Peseiro does not want to pay 20k again. Lmao he has met his target and that mafia is still demanding 20k monthly and also expect him to pay his assistants. This drama is a blessing in disguise.
Peseiro If you ask me Take the Algeria Job and pay rise. You will be doing SE a favour.
I will Catagorically state that Peseiro has achieved the job he set out to do with SE has instilled confidence back in the boys by reaching the finals he has brough back believe in the team albeit the starting 11 because his approach has knocked the confidence of some really good games who watched on as the starting 11 was run ragged by the coach for 90 mins each game during the knockouts knowing full well if the coach had called on them they could add alot like Moffi and Iheanacho proved when called upon for 2 mins each game in Extra time. So you see Peseiro approach did some players good but, also had a bad effect on some senior heads in the team.
For me Peseiro can give no more unless part of the clause from NFF is that he revisits his coaching handbook and takes a FIFA professional coaching course to improve his level. the coach at the moment is on individual brilliance of the team which will not work without a game plan against SA in WC qualifiers. Just my honest take

For me Peseiro can give no more unless part of the clause from NFF is that he revisits his coaching handbook and takes a FIFA professional coaching course to improve his level and how to run tactics in game and have better variety on how to tackle a game before and expecially during a match basically his dynamics needs a lot of improvement. the coach at the moment is riding on individual brilliance of some players in the team, which will not work without proper game plan especially against SA in WC qualifiers and i need not remind people that only 1 team qualifies from a group, I would not want to be the personn who makes the final call on this because our World Cup 2026 hopes lies on this one decision . Just my honest take
I hope Nigeria can keep him, but from the looks of things Peseiro may have used the SuperEagles to elevate himself. Whatever the case I can wish him all the best in his decision. The only issue is how we can improve on the success of the recent AFCON? Should we get a better foreign coach? Or should we return the SuperEagles to a domestic coach?? As long he is a tactically savvy coach whether foreign or domestic we must improve on our recent success. Unfortunately, we are a very terrible country when it comes to managing success.
@Aphilldegreat Obviously Foreign No questions asked in saying that, HERVE REYNARD IS the MAN FOR THE JOB. Hugo Broos will outsmart Peseiro again like I stated last year when the groups were made all of your were talking of Rohr and Benin as our biggest threat in the WC Qualifiers and I clearly stated NO! Hugo Bross and Bafana are because Hugo Broos is seasoned in African Ball I m sure you have all seen it now. We need a coach that can match Broos Tactically and no other than Herve Reynard or Better or we can kiss WC good Bye Period!..
I know people on this forum always disagree with me even when I am vindicated year in year out like I always say Time Reveals all.
NFF if you are listening GO FOR HERVE REYNARD. Reynard Will jump at the opportunity to coach SE and the Stars we have currently He is the only man for the Job
…. We don’t need Peseiro… Jose Peseiro, please walk away…..
Jose Peseiro don’t need you. He quit to get a far better offers and privileges.
HA HA HA. DO YOU THINK THAT PESEIRO CAN SUCCEED VERY WELL ELSEWHERE WITHOUT HAVING AT HIS DISPOSAL THE KIND OF STARS AND TALENTS THAT WERE AVAILABLE TO HIM IN NIGERIA’S SUPER EAGLES?
The ball is now in Paseiro’s court, no longer in the NFF’s end of the court. How quickly the table has turned. He’s the one with options now in contrast to a few months ago when the NFF gave him 2 options, categorically telling him to either accept a pay cut or leave.
Shakara has shifted base. Lol.
From the look of things, with NFF being terse and shifting the responsibility to the FG, it’s obvious they’re playing a waiting game themselves. They just want his contract to run out so he becomes a free agent. The NFF would not be obliged to pay any compensation.
It’s clear NFF already has lined up a candidate, which the grapevine says is Amuneke. That might explain the reason the FIFA World Cup winner and 1994 APOTY has been speaking confidently of late, although discreetly while the post is not vacant yet as professional coaches do. He’s always claimed he’s never been 100% in charge of the SE to fully apply his philosophy.
To answer ur question @AY, how many tactically savvy coach do we ve in Nigeria. I think Peserio wasn’t a bad coach, we just don’t ve enough good players at afcon enjoy the coach formation. But I blamed him for taking almost minus 7 players to the afcon, we lost due to our bad bench. Retain the coach look for two new wingers, three new solid midfielders, two more fresh defenders we should be fine moving forward.
HERVE REYNARD IS the MAN FOR THE JOB. Hugo Broos will outsmart Peseiro again like I stated last year when the groups were made all of your were talking of Rohr and Benin as our biggest threat in the WC Qualifiers and I clearly stated NO! Oboy see CSN lool! – Mehn sometimes you pipo dey behave like say another thing dey involve joor!
Yes Iwunze, I said this but we gotta ask ourselves the question – will this NFF “Onigbese” as our good friends here call them, will they be able to and willing to do the right thing and stop stealing Nigeria’s money and use it instead for the good of Nigeria? That my friend is the million dollar question ke?
Imagine a country blessed like us – the potential we have ehn, if our people were any kind of good peoples, we will be rubbing shoulders with the USA and other advanced countries in the world today, not have starving country, where these very blessed and talented individuals are begging cap in hand for ordinary food while the THIEVES at the top continue stealing and they and their children are getting fat off of our money and living in all the best suburbs on planet earth and still feeling entitled to it and thinking that they are better than the average poor Nigerian on the street -Chai! It is such a crying shame what the people of this country have done!
Let’s look at Renard and if not let’s consider Mosimane because he probably has a score to settle with his country SA for the way they treated nim and brought a white man Bros into their fold as their manager and if not then I keep saying that I think the best person we can appoint actually having said all the above is our very own Shola Ameobi – I can guarantee if we somehow drafted Shola in, that may be the end of the troubles as far as the SE goes – I know how the guy is and I know his personality, I know the kind of person he is – a very strong and proud guy.. I have absolutely no doubt He will set the Super Eagles aright! Believe me.
I love your suggestion that Nigeria should engage HERVE REYNARD but where is the money? We can’t pay him. The guy will not collyless than 150k per month. If we want him, we must be ready to break the bank.
Paseiro should please leave for another country, we all say thank you very much for the few years you spent with our Super Eagles. Please go and never come back to Nigeria!
The worst thing that will happen to super eagles is to employ Amuneke ,he will be dancing political tunes the way he danced during his stay at under 20, it will be fair to employ European Bushman than to employ ex international players that will be inviting all the ibrahims to our national team the way they are doing with useless under 20
Amunike will fall like a pack of cards….what has he achieved at National and international level? Under 17 world cup…Failed at U20 level…Hmmmmm
And What did your yeye Rorh and paserio win please. At least he won Under 17 world cup, not even under 17 nations cup. Abge make una go hang transformer. Even before the tournament, the team was playing badly, may i remind you of the 2 world cup qualifiers against minnow teams, had it being a local coach, you and the NFF would have being calling for his job. So what is good for the gander is good for the goose.
Emmanuel Amuneke is a legend and should be given a chance and free hand to pilot the SE.
Any coach that will pilot the SE going forward should quickly address the midfield problem immediately by drafting in some bold, skillful and vibrant midfielders (AMs, CM & DM). This must be done considering the individual standout attributes of such players….(shooting ability/accuracy, dribbling skills & pace, ball distribution and various passing techniques, free kick/penalty expert, goals scoring/assist ability, ball tackling capability, ability to receive the ball always and navigate through tight situations, etc);
Get some proactive, solid and rugged central defenders (go watch Haller’s goal in AFCON final, Haller was in between Ajayi and Ekong; Ekong was closer to the ball but was not proactive enough to quickly clear the ball and wasted some seconds allowing Haller to double up and kicked the ball in. Too bad.
SE need some purposeful wingers with the ability to go past their marker with all techniques, cross the ball well, shoot powerfully when the opportunity surfaces, score and assist freely.
PESEIRO made a mistake by benching Iheanacho and Moffi…. Rather bringing in Onuachu while the tournament progressed. He had no excellent AM. All his midfielders and attackers/wing back can’t shoot well, poor crossers….
Another mistake of PESEIRO was benching Bruno and Osayi even when Zaidu and Aina were found wanting at some point.
If you doubt me, let PESEIRO play a normal formation without packing the bus like a lorry and see how your central defenders and Aina will leak of goals and disgraced. As it is now, teams have learnt how to dismantle the SE packing the bus courtesy of SA and CIV.
SE or Golden eaglet you wlmeant to say. He should wait till the Nff place vacancy for the u17 coaching job since that has been the only success he has recorded since becoming a coach
Amunike for what ? That will be the joke of the year.
Heartland and Aba warriors would be a good start for him. Once he proves himself like Finidi Finito, he can now apply for the U-23 or CHAN position.
The problem with Amunike is that he is too delusional forgetting that coaching is about pedigree and he doesn’t have it with senior teams.
I’m not a fan of local coaches leading the team but if we have to
settle for one, I’ll suggest those with good records coaching senior team outside the country
@Larry Most of you seems not to get it, Local coaches even if they like can coach in EPL as long as they were born in Nigeria and Grew up in Naija they will be Sentimental when selecting and inviting players to the team if you didn’t know this is the only i repeat only dilemma with Local coaches and as you can see a very damaging one because then the frustrations will rise when we start seeing good players miss out on the Team for NPFL players the only local coaches I will vie for will be the ones of Dual nationality and tht is when the likes of Victor Moses retire but even they can’t be trusted like John Fashanu HAs roved Campaigning for Local players in SE to appease some Heads in NFF so they can think he is Nigerian enough.
Every Other African Country does not face the same troubles we face in Nigeria when it comes to Ethnicity and Sentiment beclouding good fair Judgement.
Not Amuneke…I take God beg Una!! Even our foreign players will not respond to choosing Nigeria as a country to play for if amuneke is chosen.
Foreign coach is the way to go but go for the best coach available that understand the quality of the team and how to strengthen the team going forward.
We just need to apply a suitable tactics while strengthening the attacking midfield department and the central defence… get some young but very vibrant sets of players from any part of the league in Nigeria and outside….they abounds.
If we can’t get a new but very tactical foreign coach, please retain Peseiro instead of giving Nigeria Amuneke…… let’s think of the best and get it…
Many people do not accept Amunike, but wait, ooo, who discovered Osimhen, Nwakali, Nacho, Chukwueze, and many of our young star players?
Let’s give Amunike a chance to reform Super Eagles.
Coach Paseiro has tried, but we have to move on.
Let’s give Amunike a chance, and I believe he would deliver.
Just like Nwabali, so many people have condemned Nwabali just because he manned the post against Mexico, and he considered 4 goals.
I told tou people on this platform that you can’t judge Nwabali capability based on the 4 goals he concided because our home based team was playing against the main team of Mexico, which was more exposed than our home based players.
Even in that encounter, Nwabali commands his territory so well, and he wasn’t at fault for those four goals.
We saw what Nwabali was able to do during the Afcon, and those involved mocking the innocent young man were nowhere to be found. Hmm, that is life my people.
I’m just using Nwabali story to give Nigerians what to expect if given Amunike a chance to prove his worth. NFF should allow the wisdom man to choose his preferred assistants.
Please let allow coach Paseiro to vacate his position. We have a capable replacement for him, which is Amunike.
You people should know that I have never diserpointed you Nigerians before. Please let welcome Amunike to take over from coach Paseiro. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Discover keee the level of playing when those guys were kids are differ now compare child and mature man incomparable Amunu those not has pedigree to handle the whole super Eagles of Nigeria. If he fail he will just say im sorry pls the evil we know is better than……. Pasero for now because of continuity world cup is coming pls give chain Eagles to Amunuke first
@Omo9ja, Mr No Nonsense is saying Hi.
Ire o as usual u see am I tok am say na wetin dis 2face nwadibia sabi nothing else.
At dis point na film u suppose dey act especially YouTube movies since u fit tok one thing 2day tok anoda 2moro
Ah ah CSN – bros where my post nau??? Abi which kain whinchi be this ke????

NFF should do whatever it takes to tie this man down o..or if they can go for herve reynard it will be fine…
BREAKING NEWS: OGN just reported Paseiro has dumped Nigeria and accepted the Algerian job. OGN quoted an Algerian newspaper, Al-Hayat as their source.
Who will choose $60K over $100K (abi nah $200K) before?
I honestly feel Finidi George will do a better job with the Super Eagles. While all fingers are crossed, let’s see what happens in the coming days.
There is nothing anybody can say to convince me about coach Paseiro that he should continue as Super Eagles coach. Mba.
Why Osimhen did not scoring goals at Afcon but scoring goals for fun at his club side now? In my opinion, I prefer Amunike to take over from coach Paseiro shikena.
This shows that if NFF retains, Oga Paseiro Nigeria may not qualify for the next Afcon and World Cup.
Coach Paseiro preferred Zaidu to Bruno and I raised this issue during the group stage and so many people on this forum said I should allow the coach to do his job but to my surprise, Zaidu wasted so many chances put the gaffer even praised him for doing a great job Kai.
When the gaffer fumbled against South Africa and Ivory coast in the final, those people were complaining but it was too late.
Aina was tired against Ivory Coast in the final which was clear that Oga Paseiro had no option than to replace Ola but not until the Ivory Coast down and dusted our reliable Ola Aina in the final of the Afcon.
I don’t want to waste my time on this issue of the Super Eagles coach anybody more. Nothing has been changed yet all this while I have been calling NFF attention to this.
Congratulations to Osimhen. No doubt he is one of the best strikers in the world at the moment. Keep improving. The sky is your limit. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
I am very happy that JP has dumped Nigeria and accept to join Algeria. Now omo9ja, with all your cronies, the ball is in your court. Let see your lazy and backward Amuneke takes over and qualify us for the ongoing World Cup in USA. It is JP that dump Nigeria this time around. He put us at 28 in the FIFA world ranking. omo9ja, lets see where your lazy Amuneke shall place us by the time he comes in. Oya !!!
Edoman…..Edoman…….Edoman…… how many times did I call you ba?
At least give some respect to an Afcon former coach of Tanzania.
You called a coach who qualified Tanzania to Afcon a lazy man.
A feet that Oga Rohr did not achieve with Benin?
Coach made it to Afcon because we had so many fantastic players, just like Oga Rohr.
If you don’t believe in my words, but why is Oga Rohr struggling in Benin?
Coach Paseiro can manage to qualify for the next Afcon with Algeria if he gets hired.
Algeria has good players as well, but going beyond that one is not guaranteed for Oga Paseiro.
Let’s give coach Amunike or any of our own to take us to the promised land.
Can you see that Osimhen is scoring the wotowoto now?
Why did we not see that at Afcon?
We should be dancing and rejoicing with ourselves if Oga Paseiro truly has accepted Algeria job.
We were playing against our African brothers. Oga Paseiro turned our attacking team to Aso rock. What of if we were playing against Argentina, Brazil, Germany, or Italy?
If you are not happy that coach Paseiro is about to vacate his position, then go back to YouTube and watch the Afcon final.
He was leading by 1:0. Why did he decide to park the bus for the entire 90 minutes?
Still, you and your colleagues want the gaffer to continue because he made it to the final of Afcon with luck?
Were you impressed aside from against weaker side Cameroon?
Please, my lovely friend Edoman, let’s welcome the wise man Amunike to reform Super Eagles before it is too late. Amunike is the man for the job. NFF should give Amunike a two years contract with a free hand to pick his assistants. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
