Manchester City forward, Raheem Sterling has disclosed that he sends his football home to his mum each time he scores a hattrick.
Sterling scored thrice on Tuesday night in the space of just 11 second-half minutes as City who were behind by one goal thrashed Atalanta 5-1 in the Group C match at Etihad stadium. The English man was involved in the 5 goals and makes it his fifth treble for club and Country, his second for the season.
‘They are at my mum’s house in Jamaica,’ he said of his previous prizes.
‘I’ve put them in a little glass box and I’ve bought an extra six cases just in case I do score a hat-trick, so I can put it straight in a case and give it to her. So, I’ll give it to my mum to put away.’
Sterling has spoken of the sacrifices his mother made for him to start a new life in England after his father was murdered when he was two. Their home was situated close to Wembley stadium and he recalls memories of his mother having multiple jobs to sustain the family.
Speaking to Player’s Tribune, the 24-year-old said, ‘My mum was working as a cleaner at some hotels to make extra money so she could pay for her degree. He continued, ‘I’ll never forget waking up at five in the morning before school and helping her clean the toilets at the hotel in Stonebridge.’
Sterling’s scintillating display helped Pep Guardiola’s men go five points clear at the top of their group. His consistent performance has earned him a nomination on the 30-man shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or award. He has scored a total of 35 goals this year.

An humble beginning mixed with discipline, hardwork, focus, kindness and constant prayers is always destined for greatness. God bless to Sterling/ mum.
Greatness sure always has a humble beginning.
Synonyms for the English word STERLING include first-rate, exquisite, marvelous……., and Raheem has been just that throughout his career. One of Guardiola’s best acquisitions as Man City coach, if not the outright best. Liverpool must be kicking themselves for letting him go. Imagine Liverpool with Salah, Mane, Firmino and Sterling! Anyway, best wishes to the lad.
BTW, his mum looks young enough to be his sister!
Oops, it was actually Pellegrini that brought Sterling to Man City.
Is true that he has three kids with 3 women? He is truely an all round star indeed.
Sterling is my starman for the trophy, Ronaldo and Messi have had enough it’s time the younger generation start having some share of the spoils too. That being said you won’t blane Ronaldo and Messi for dominating this long. They have been a blessing to the game of football and a the greatest in unique ways reason i don’t engage in the baseless and senseless debate of who among them is greater. They are God’s of the game and should be adored equally as such.
