Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva has opened up on how he fought tuberculosis and almost died of it at the early stages of his life.
The Brazilian international, who is expected to end his contract at the end of the season, told ESPN, that battling the bacteria made him strong.
He also stated that he’s better known in Brazil than in Europe.

“At 39 years old, I am closer to the end of my career. I will continue playing football, but it has not yet been decided where.
“I have a few days to think and rethink what I’m going to do.”
He also said: “I don’t think I’m better known in Europe than in Brazil, but I think I’m a little more respected here than there, that’s for sure.
“I fought against tuberculosis and I almost died. That made me very strong. And crying is not a situation of weak people, is of a brave person, and I have always been very brave in my life.”
