Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has said he does not have 100 per cent trust in the current Super Eagles team.
Udeze said this while reacting to the AFCON 2025 qualifying draw when the Eagles will once again face Benin Republic.
The last time both teams clashed on matchday 4 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Benin Republic came from a goal down to win 2-1.
It was the Gernot Rohr-led side’s second win in the World Cup qualifiers while the Eagles are yet to record a win.
After four games the Eagles have three points and occupy fifth place in the group.
“I have my fears now about the Super Eagles,” Udeze said on Brila FM.
“I don’t have 100 per cent trust in the Super Eagles again, I only have 60 per cent trust in them now.”
The two-time AFCON (2002, 2004,) star said he hopes the Eagles will secure a win when they face Benin again.
Udeze added:”Hopefully they will beat Benin Republic this time around.”
The Eagles are in Group D of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers with Benin Republic, Libya and Rwanda, who is also in their World Cup qualifying group.
The 2025 AFCON qualifiers will begin in September this year while the World Cup qualifiers will resume in March.

LMAO…Omo me na 6.3 percent trust I get in them…
IT IS VERY EASY TO USE MOUTH TO SAY RWAANDA, THIS & THAT CANNOT STOP US IN PARTICIPATING IN AFCON AS IF IT IS OUR BIRTH RIGHT TO QUALIFY FOR AFCON.
IN 2012,2015,2017 AFCON QUALIFIERS, WHO STOP NIGERIA NOT TO QUALIFIER.
EVEN PRESENTLY, WHO ABOUT TO STOP NIGERIA NOT TO QUALIFY FOR WORLD CUP?
YOU CAN IMAGINE, ORDINARY LESOTHO, ZIMBABWE WANT TO STOP SO-CALLED GIANT OF AFRICA NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN NEXT WORLD CUP.
** NIGERIA SHOULD FORGET BEING QUALIFY FOR NEXT AFCON WITH ALL THESE UNPATRIOTIC, LAZY SUPER EAGLE PLAYERS.
** BENIN, RWANDA ARE FAR FAR BETTER THAN ZIMBABWE, LESOTHO
Me no even have any trust in them again. I even believe they can play draw with secondary school boys.
Na NFF dey cause all this nonsense.
Put this same guys under a proper coach wey sabi tactics, and we will be singing a different tune.
What is the identity of the Super Eagles? Nobody knows. Peseiro played defensive counter-attacking style which drew condemnation from many quarters despite laudable Afcon silver.
Finidi played freestyle possession based attacking style which left gaps for Benin and South Africa to exploit.
So, what will be the identity of the Super Eagles under a new gaffer?
No one knows yet. However, I still have faith in the Super Eagles. We still have several exciting players who can turn on the charm on the pitch.
Onyedika, Dele-Bashiru and Chukwueze shone under Finidi. The whole team shone under Peseiro. So, if the NFF gets their next appointment right and provides enabling environment, the players can shine.
Personally, I pray Peseiro doesn’t come back. I thoroughly enjoyed Finidi’s style of play. It only lacked enough discipline, organisation, orderliness and structural integrity to propel success.
We now need a coach who can set the Super Eagles up to take the fight to the opposition, like Finidi, but do so with greater tactical skills, judgement and acumen that Finidi definitely lacked.
The last thing I want is seeing Super Eagles play 5-2-3 defensive set up against the likes of Guinea Bissau and Angola like Peseiro did. I am so grateful for what we achieved under Peseiro with Pack-the-Bus. But, with all due respect to Peseiro, we have players who can play fluently as an attacking force.
So, although Udeze has his doubts I am sure that, under a more technically grounded foreign based coach, the Super Eagles can be great again.

Nff should be carefull on d coach d select
We are always at the mercy of our officials. Its as if they hate good things happening to Nigeria. Well I get my consolations from Waldrum led Super Falcon’s and the assistants.
Nigeria female national teams(football, basketball, track and field) makes sense to me right now.
