Senegal head coach Aliou Cissé has explained how his players will approach AFCON 2021 final against Egypt on Sunday.
The Teranga Lions will hope to be third time lucky when they face the Pharaohs of Egypt in a mouth-watering grand finale.
In their previous two final appearances in 2002 and 2019, Senegal lost to Cameroon and Algeria respectively.
For Egypt, they will be targeting a record-extending eight AFCON title.

And speaking ahead of today’s game Cissé, who captained the Senegal squad in 2002 and was in charge in 2019, said in his presser:”We prepared well for our final with the players who are determined and confident to put in a good show,” he was quoted on cafonline.com.
“We will approach this final with determination against a great Egyptian team. We know our opponent well; they have their own philosophy of play with experienced players on the continental level. We are on the way to our objective of winning the title this Sunday evening.”
He added:”We must focus on the final, play it well and thus succeed in our match. We will have to take advantage of the moment. We lost two finals in the past, but this time we will approach the match with more determination.”

. . . Better do and clinch the cup now that the SE are out of the way, otherwise it would be a long wait for you. I’m sure our players’ll be determined to sway the fans their way in Côte d’Ivoire next year.
One of them will win the AFCON, but the losing team will revenge and qualify for the world cup in Quatar. If Senegal wins today, Egypt will likely qualify for world cup, and if Egypt wins today, Senegal will also likely to qualify for the world cup. This is going to be a case of once beaten twice shy, as both teams will play each other next month for a slot at Quatar 2022 world cup.
