Completesports.com’s ADEBOYE AMOSU rates the performance of Super Eagles players in their 3-2 victory against the Mambas of Mozambique at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira on Monday night..
FRANCIS UZOHO 5/10
The Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper didn’t cover himself in glory with another uninspiring display.
BRIGHT OSAYI-SAMUEL 71/0
Good display from the right-back. Defended well and also supported the attack.
KENNETH OMERUO 71/0
Helped organised things well at the back. A composed display from the experienced centre-back.
JORDAN TORUNARIGHA 6/10
Not a bad debut for the KAA Gent of Belgium centre-back. He would however need to do more to become a regular in the team.
BRUNO ONYEMAECHI 7/10
Keeps getting better with every game.He is gradually making the left-back position his own.
BRIGHT ONYEDIKA 7/10
Combined well with Frank Onyeka in the middle of the park.
FRANK ONYEKA 8/10
The Brentford midfielder was outstanding in the game. He got a goal and had two well struck shots saved by the goalkeeper.
FISAYO DELE-BASHIRU 7/10
A good performance on his debut for the Super Eagles. Proved he has what it takes to excel on the international level.
MOSES SIMON 7/10
Converted from the spot for Nigeria’s third goal of the game.
JOE ARIBO 7/10
The Southampton man was lively before his substitution in the second half.
TEREM MOFFI 8/10
The striker scored Nigeria’s opening goal and could have had one or two more.
SUBSTITUTES
UMAR SADIQ 6/10
Had two goals ruled out for offside after replacing Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in the second half.
CHIDOZIE AWAZIEM 4/10
The Boavista defender helped kept things tight at the back after coming on for Kenneth Omeruo.
ADEMOLA LOOKMAN 4/10
Took the place of Bright Onyedika. He didn’t do much following his introduction.
ALEX IWOBI 4/10
The versatile midfielder nearly registered a goal late on.

The powerful forward was lively in the 15 minutes he spent on the pitch.

Am impressed with Onyeka performance he has really played well this past few games. We are gradually getting there and if we can get a good goal keeper the Afcon will be ours to lose. We’ve got a very good team and they are gelling well. Guys lets go win!!!
I’ve been saying it since Rohr’s time that we should be playing both Ndidi and Onyeka in that midfield. It’s going to be a good partnership. People need to see them as beyond 4s. They can cover each other when one goes forward. Ndidi has been playing some attacking football too of recent. 4231 with Onyeka and Ndidi in that midfield and we’re good.
They accused the man of being defensive for playing double pivots back then. They wanted the expansive, expressive, obsolete 1994 squad wing play that only hurts small-fry teams in this age and time.
It only took apprentice coaches of Tunisia and Ghana with the worst string sides both countries have ever assembled in decades to boot our asses back down to mother earth with shots from long range after isolating Wilfred Ndidi…..LMAoooo.
The important thing is Peseiro now has a good idea what his starting XI in November should look like
Allnigeriasoccer.com runs the rule over the Super Eagles players on parade at the Estádio Municipal de Albufeira.
The starters
Goalkeeper:
Francis Uzoho: He did nothing to silence his critics and should have dealt better with the two goals conceded particularly the first one 3/10
Defenders
Bruno Onyemaechi: It wasn’t the best game for the left back who lost most of his 1v1 duels. He also failed to make an impact in the attacking third. 6/10
Jordan Torunarigha: The Gent centre-back was handed his debut and was solid though partly at fault for Mozambique’s first goal. He did very well to cover for the left back whenever he bumped forward. 6/10
Victor Boniface: Could have gotten on the scoresheet but had his goal ruled out for offside. Besides that, offered nothing much. 5/10
Midfielders and strikers
Moses Simon:He wasn’t as decisive as he was against Saudi Arabia. His set pieces were decent and worked his socks off, covering well for the fullbacks. 6/10
Frank Onyeka: He initially played as the most advanced of the two central midfielders and did majestically well, capping it up with a goal. Also, put in a good shift when asked to sit deep. 9/10
Raphael Onyedika: Tasked with the responsibility of protecting his back line, Onyedika didn’t play poorly in what was his first-ever start for Nigeria 6.5/10
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru: The Manchester City Academy product got handed his debut in the encounter. Besides playing a hand in the build-up to the second goal, he wasn’t spectacular though did combine well with his teammates at times. 6/10
Terem Moffi: The Nice striker showed good positioning and awareness for his goal but didn’t make much impact besides that. 7/10
Joe Aribo: This was his best performance in a Super Eagles jersey in a while. Started by partnering with Moffi in attack and was a handful for the Mambas’ defensive line. He was further deployed deep in the second half and didn’t look out of place 7.5/10
The substitutes
Umar Sadiq: He didn’t do anything to cover himself in glory when he came on and failed to justify his inclusion into the team yet again with his clumsiness in the penalty area 4/10
Chidozie Awaziem: He wasn’t faced with much but didn’t look out of place. 5/10
Alex Iwobi: Made sure Nigeria maintained control of the game as Mozambique attempted to level the scoreline.6/10
Ademola Lookman: Looked lively when he was brought on and could have had an assist but his decision-making still needs improvement. 5.5/10
Calvin Bassey: Gave no room for the opposition to cause danger, made a vital block. 6/10
